(Characters onstage: King Charming and Narrator)
(King Charming is on his throne)
Narrator: King Charming has been shouting for ages. He's trying... and failing to get Tom to find Prince Charming
King Charming: TOM!!!!
(Enter Tom)
Tom: Yes your majesty?
King Charming: Is my son bringing anyone to the ball?!
Tom: Who's your son again?
King Charming: MY SON IS PRINCE CHARMING YOU IDIOT! NOW TELL ME IS HE BRINGING ANYONE TO THE BALL?!
Tom: I don't know... I don't think so
King Charming: For goodness sake!
(Enter Cook)
(King Charming looks at him)
King Charming: Yes?
Cook: We have enough food for about 18 people, this ok?
King Charming: Yes, that's fine. Thank you.
(Exit Cook)
Tom: Is Bella going?
King Charming: Of course!
Tom: I'll... go get ready
(Exit Tom)
King Charming: SON! WHERE ARE YOU?!
(Enter Prince Charming)
Prince Charming: Yes father?
King Charming: Have you invited someone to the ball?
Prince Charming: Well... I... I....
King Charming: SPIT IT OUT LAD!
Prince Charming: YES! I DID!
King Charming: Excellent! WHO IS IT?! A CHARMING YOUNG GIRL?! A PRETTY PRINCESS?! WHO! MY, MY, MY! MY LINE IS SAVED!
Prince Charming: It's a man from the forest!
King Charming: Nope, they are still damned.
Prince Charming: But father!
King Charming: HUSH! I PROMISED THAT OUR LINE WILL NOT DIE OUT!
Prince Charming: Well... WELL.... WELL YOU BETTER FIND SOMEONE ELSE TO BE YOUR PRINCE THEN!
King Charming: Now, now son. The Ball is about to start.
(Cook brings in the food)
(Exit Cook)
(Enter Tom and Bella)
King Charming: Let the ball begin!
(Tom walks to Bella)
Tom: Want to dance?
Bella: Yeah... but not with you
Tom: Baby steps
(King Charming walks to Bella)
King Charming: What about me? will you dance with me?
Bella: I couldn't say no to a king
(King Charming and Bella dance)
Bella: You dance very well your majesty
King Charming: Thank you Bella, you're not so bad yourself
(Prince Charming sighs)
Prince Charming: He's not coming!
(Tom hugs him)
Tom: I'll dance with you instead?
Prince Charming: No thanks... (He sighs)
(Enter The Highway Man)
Tom: He's here!
Prince Charming: Where?!
(The Highway Man hides behind Prince Charming)
Audience: HE'S BEHIND YOU!
(Prince Charming turns around)
Prince Charming: YOU CAME?!
The Highway Man: Of course! for... you!
(The Highway Man and Prince Charming dance)
(Bella sees The Highway Man)
Bella: HE'S THE ONE THAT STOLE MY PURSE! PRINCE CHARMING, GRAB HIM!
The Highway Man: You're PRINCE CHARMING?!
Prince Charming: YOU'RE THEE HIGHWAY MAN!
(Guards grab The Highway Man)
