(Scene: Outside of the castle)
(Characters on-stage: Narrator, Tom and Prince Charming)
Narrator: Prince Charming waits eagerly for his true-love, the highway man.
Tom: Oh come on Prince Charming! HE WON'T TURN UP! HE'S A THIEF AND NOW HE'S STOLEN YOUR HEART!
Prince Charming: ENOUGH! HE WILL COME FOR ME! I KNOW HE WILL!
Tom: Wake up Prince Charming! YOUR FATHER WILL NEVER ALLOW YOU TO MARRY HIM!
Prince Charming: He said I had to marry! he didn't say who!
Tom: Naughty, someone's going to trick their father!
(Prince Charming shrugs)
Prince Charming: I don't care! I'd give my claim to the throne if it meant I could be with him!
Tom: No! DON'T DO THAT! THEN THE KING WOULD BE WITHOUT AN HEIR! THE NEXT IN LINE WOULD BE THE KING'S NEPHEW! CALLED RICHARD HEAD! WHO WOULD WANT A KING CALLED RICHARD HEAD?!
Prince Charming: WHAT ABOUT MY HAPPINESS?!
Tom: He's not coming!
(Enter The Highway Man)
The Highway Man: Prince Charming, ..... (The Highway Man bows) Weird dude....
Tom: Who?! WHO'S THE WEIRD DUDE! I'll go look for the weird dude!
(Exit Tom)
Prince Charming: I'm glad they let you out
The Highway Man: Me too.
Prince Charming: I guess you're going back to the forest then.
The Highway Man: No, I don't want you to have to bail me out again.
(Enter Tom)
Tom: Couldn't find the weird dude (He looks at The Highway Man) I hope you're happy! PRINCE CHARMING HAS TO GET MARRIED NOW!
Prince Charming: Shush Tom!
The Highway Man: Married? To who?
Tom: Not you!
Prince Charming: Be quiet Tom! To anyone I want to marry
The Highway Man: You'd never accept my hand...
Tom: Nope, never
The Highway Man: Well thank God I wasn't asking you!
Prince Charming: I don't know... I mean, would you want to marry a prince like me? You could do so much better!
Tom: You couldn't do any worse!
The Highway Man: Of course but would you want to marry a highway man? I mean, I am a highway man! Nothing will change my past!
Tom: Indeed! YOU STOLE BELLA'S PURSE!
Prince Charming: Of course I could! I could easily!
(Prince Charming hugs The Highway Man)
Tom: Gross! Gross! GROSS!
Prince Charming: Marry me?
(The Highway Man nods)
(They hug again)
