VIOLETS POV

The next morning I woke up more refreshed than I have my whole life, even though it was only seven in the morning.

I got up from the couch and dragged my blanket with me. Then I carefully placed it over Chris who was shivering slightly.

Then I tiptoed into the kitchen where I found Bobby sitting at the table drinking a cup of coffee.

"Morning Bobby!" I said cheerily.

"Morning Violet, little early isn't it? what are you doin' up?" he asked

"I could ask you the same thing,"

"Touché,"

I poured myself some of the freshly made coffee and sat next to Bobby,

"So what are you doing up?" I asked

"Early riser I guess, you?" he replied

"Same,"

"Can I ask you a question?" he asked

"Sure,"

"Why did you agree to go with Chris and Gareth?"

"I knew I could trust them and after my dads........well my dads.......passing, I guess I needed a fresh start." I said, choosing my words carefully.

"Well I won't push you further, and I know you wouldn't do the same in my situation," he said patting my arm.

"Tell me about yourself, please?"

"Well my name is Robert Williams, I was born here in Minneapolis and have lived here all my life. I married a woman named Genevieve Scott and we were married for twenty-four years before......before she was possessed by a demon and..... died and those two boys in there are the closest things I have and ever will have to sons."

"Well Robert Williams my name is Violet O'Callaghan and I was born in Cork in Ireland and I moved to America when I was seven. My parents are both Irish and I'm fluent in the language. I play guitar and piano because my father taught me and my mother taught me to sing. I got accepted to Harvard on a full scholarship and want to be a doctor. I am an angel and this is one of my many lives."

"Well isn't that something," said Bobby chuckling.

"It is indeed."

I turned to see Chris come through the door and grab a cup of coffee.

"Morning sunshine!"

"You are too peppy for seven thirty in the morning," he said

"Aw is Diddums tired? poor baby" I said rubbing his arm.

"Bite me,"

"Sorry you're not my type"

"Bitch,"

"Wow did you think if that all by yourself?" I clapped sarcastically at him.

"Bobby why can't I hit her?" he said turning to Bobby

"Because she's a guest," he replied

"And I'd probably kick your ass," I commented

"I'd like to see you try,"

"Bring it on!"

"Well we see then, you need to learn to fight if you wanna avoid getting hurt again,"

"Fine I'll get dressed and we can go outside," I said walking out the door.

"What no breakfast?" I heard Chris whine.

I stuck my head back around the door. "No breakfast,"

CHRIS' POV

"She's really something isn't she?" I said to Bobby after Violet had left.

"And the rest," he replied.

"What the hell does that mean?"

"It means you watch out for that girl you moron!"

"Okay jeez I will," I got up to pull some eggs out of the fridge when I heard a voice in the doorway

"I thought I said no breakfast!"

I turned and saw Violet in the doorway and my breath caught in my throat. She was wearing tight, black yoga pants and a loose fitting Irish rugby hoodie. Her hair was pulled back from her face in a high ponytail. She looked stunning.

"Well are you gonna sit there catching flies or are you gonna get dressed and help me?"

"Um.....give me a minute," I replied.

She walked past us to the back door. I looked over at Bobby and he shooed me away.

I threw on my tracksuit bottoms and a black v neck T-shirt. I put on my runners and followed Violet out the door.

"Well if you want to avoid what happened in Minneapolis you'll need to know how to defend yourself," I began.

Violet nodded in agreement. "Where do we start?"

"Lets just start with some simple moves. I'll try to hit you and you block,"

Then I threw one of my lightest punches and she blocked it with ease. "good job,"

We repeated this for about an hour, throwing in various other defensive and offensive moves.

We were about to head back inside when Violet stopped.

"What's wrong?" I asked

"I don't know?" she replied clutching her side.

"Tell me where it hurts,"

"Right.....argh!!" she cried, falling to the ground.

"Violet!" I looked up to see Emanuel kneeling beside her.

She was panting, tears streaming down her face.

"Whats wrong?" I asked Emanuel

"I don't know I have to see," he replied

He pulled Violets hoodie up, revealing her stomach.

"Oh my god," gasped Emanuel.

Her entire stomach looked like it was burning, blisters and blood covered the surface.

"What do we do?"

"Um I can try something but I'm not sure it will work,"

Emanuel began chanting in what I think was Latin. Violets panting eased and the blisters slowly began to disappear one by one.

She gripped my hand tightly but soon after lost consciousness.
