Alice
I stared at the corner booth in disbelief; this couldn't be right. I blinked repeatedly, trying to prove that he was some sort of hallucination but he stayed there. He was facing towards me, leaning inwardly, conversing with another man who had his back to me.
I took a couple of deep breaths and looked away, only to look back to see a third man in a tan trench coat - who had definitely not been there before - sitting next to my father. I frowned, I was positive he hadn't been there and he didn't pass me on his way in. He must have been at the bathroom, I concluded.
I shook my head and ordered my meal and sat in the booth closest to theirs. I kept catching snippets of their hushed conversation such as, "...they don't act like that." "I think this is bigger than usual..." "Dude, I swear the cops are following us..."
I tried to act as if I couldn't hear them. Whatever they were talking about, it sounded weird.
Once I'd finished some half an hour later - I'd been trying to drag it out so I could hear more of their hushed conversation - I lifted my tray and put it on the counter. Just as I'd turned around I walked straight into a most definetly masucline chest. I looked up to se the same guy from the parking lot. He frowned down at me, recognition flashing in his eyes.
"Uh, hey" I said awkwardly.
"Hi," he replied, his forehead creasing slightly in suspicion.
"You know, I never had a chance to catch your name before," he prompted.
It was on the tip of my tongue to say Alice but I didn't instead I blurted, "Valkyrie." It took me a moment to realise that I just told this guy that my name was one of the characters out of the Skulduggery Pleasant books.
"Valkyrie?" he questioned, raising an eyebrow.
"Yup," I said, trying to sound sincere. "My parents were all for the weird names, my sister was called Tanith and my brother Ghastly. Ah, how he hated them for it." I carried on, hoping he would fall for my charade. It was then I realised they were also characters from Skulduggery Pleasant, argh mental faceplant!
"Oh, uh, OK...." he said with confusion.
In that moment I regretted not exiting the diner the minute I saw my father because the man himself happened to be standing right behind this guy. "You ready to go?" he asked.
"Oh, uh sure," the guy replied, snapping out of his daze. "Dean, this is Valkyrie. Valkyrie, this is my brother, Dean."
I smiled awkwardly, inwardly screaming, Run, save yourself! Or at least say something; don't stand there like an idiot! You're in deep shit! The chances that this guy was your uncle? Then as an afterthought, know what, screw you Alice, I'm done being the voice in your head!
I became aware that someone was waving their hand in front of my face, "Uh, Valkyrie, are you OK?" Dean asked.
"Oh, yeah, sorry I spaced out. Anyway, I need to go now so bye, Sam, Dean," I said, nodding to each in turn. With that I hurried out of the diner, back to the motel and locked the door behind me.
It was then I realised my mistake. I'd called Sam by his name and he didn't tell me it! Uh oh, somebody's in trouble, the little voice in my head said, now you wished you'd listened to me! Urgh, I'm so screwed!

I know the chapters are short but when I started this story it was during the summer holidays and now I'm back at school. :-( I forgot just how busy school made me but I'll try to keep updating quickly.
