So the Balauria, Teryl's speices, are part of the Alenae
They don't roam around though, like actual animals or like birds do, because, well, they're not really birds
Obviously
The Balauria are mainly humanoid, like extremely from the neck down. They have a humanoid body structure- that hasn't changed, but they always have a tail and horns, and of course, wings
The Balauria are a natural speices but since they're really rare (like extremely) a group of scientists have tried to replicate them and have been successful
Teryl wasn't naturally born into the Balauria speices. She was actually born a human (surprise surprise) but she became experimented on at age 7 and got wings grafted onto her arms to try and represent one of the Balauria
She was one of their first experiments and after enough tests were preformed and they were 99.9% sure it was successful, they erased the first 7 years of her life entirely
Result of that, her mental age is 7 years slow. She reaged mentally all over again, losing the ability to talk or even walk from the erase temporarily
Teryl is mentally 13, but she's actually 20 and she comes off like that because of her matured body and also why she's taller than the average 13 year old
Unfortunately, the scientists weren't able to erase everyone's first 7 years of Teryl as a Rasiore, where she was pretty well known
They later assumed she died and her family became quite devastated
And the worst thing is is that sHE THINKS THE SCIENTISTS ARE HER FAMILY LIKE GDI TERYL

Anyways, yeah, since she grew up living a lie for about the first 9 or 10 years with her "family" she believes what they do to her is rather normal
-She believes that living in a test tube 23 hours a day is normal
-test tube is big enough for her to kinda fit (if she wraps her wings around herself) but she gets uncomfortable aches but she believes the aches from the tube are normal and a part of growing up
-She believes that there are 23 hours in a day because they erase an hour of her day experimenting
-that one hour is usually spent slicing her open or something like that it's v cruel
-she gets fed FOOD PELLETS shoved down her throat
-usually, Balaurian additions happen when you're around 1-5 for age, but since she was actually about 7 or 8, the horns grew very painfully out of her head and the tail began to make its way from her tailbone again quite painfully as well as her ears mutating
She has a bunch of scars from her experimental days but she has no idea how she got em so she just assumes they're birthmarks or something
Balaurias barely even interact with each other because they like to believe that more than one in a group attracts too much attention and boom they're suddenly caught and experimented on
They don't know of Teryl or any of the other experiments lol so they can't do squat
Teryl's a total neat freak and has a slight case of OCD because if something gets out of schedule/something changes in her life she will freak the freak out
Examples:
-mentally age 5 but physically 12, she got a nice lil ol present from Mother Nature and she screamed until one of the scientist (who was thankfully a girl) came over to clean the blood off her test tube floor and very painfully tried to explain to her what a period is
-she got some zits on her face when she was mentally 6 physically 13 and she kept thinking they were acid monsters on her face and the same scientist tried to explain them to her, but she was too set on the idea that they were monsters so
-first time she got a loose tooth, she thought that it was going to eat her for using that tooth to eat other things so she kind of threw them at a very expensive computer screen when they checked up on her
I should probably add some facts about the actual Balaurias...
Can't speak a single letter like at all. Teryl, for example, can't pronounce the letter c so if she were to try and say the sentence "I can't see the coral" she would instead say "I 'an't see the 'oral"
-Their saliva is the color of their eyes
-the tips are naturally dyed by a color right next to the color of their eyes on the color wheel
Tbh, I might just hold a contest to create a Balauria just for kicks
