This is it, my first day of senior year at a brand new school. I look around and see groups of friends talking and I feel so lonely. I slide my fingers under the sleeve of my dark purple sweater and press lightly on my fresh cuts to clear my head. I look around and pull the sleeve over my hand, take a deep breath, to calm my anxiety, and start walking to my first class. I walk in and feel like everyone is staring at me. I look at my feet and slide into the seat closest to me. After 5 seconds I look up and see him. His eyes are black and hold so much depth, he has long dark hair and a small half smile is playing on his lips.
"Hello" he says with a small wink, "what's your name?" My heart races and I resist the urge to get up and run away.
"Brooklyn." I whisper.
"Pretty name, I'm James."
Before I can say anything more the bell rings and we are forced into silence. The whole hour I kept sneaking glances at him and every time caught him staring straight at me. He was was making my anxiety go up. I needed to get out of here. Then the bell rang and I rushed out as fast as I could. I didn't care about school anymore, I needed to be alone. I rushed to the bathroom and went into the smallest stall and sat there trying to calm down for the next 2 periods. I decided to try and go to lunch. I slowly left the bathroom and made my way to the cafeteria. Of course, the first face I see is him.
