I laid in bed looking at the ceiling. Thinking, about James, my life, my friends, my past, everything.

My parents arrived at the hospital shortly after my almost panic attack and my kiss with James. The hospital agreed to discharge me, but I had mandatory therapy sessions twice a week. Today was my first one.

I had never been in therapy before and I had no idea what to expect. I was so used to constantly hiding my problems that I wasn't sure if I would be able to openly talk about them.

I checked the time on my phone and then heard a knock on my door. Without waiting for a response, the knocker slowly opened the door and poker her head in. It was my mom.

"James is downstair waiting for you."

"Is he driving me to therapy?" I asked. She nodded and then quickly closed the door. I slowly rose from my back and headed over to my mirror. I looked disgusting. I traded out my sweatpants for a worn pair of jeans and pulled my hair into a messy bun on the top of my head.

I grabbed my phone and headed downstairs. James was sitting on a barstool and stood up at the sight of me. He walked over and kissed me on the cheek.

"Ready?" he asked me. I nodded once and then we headed towards the door. Before we were all the way outside I yelled a quick goodbye to my mom.

We got settled into his car and then he backed out of my driveway.

"How are you feeling?" he asked me cautiously. I sighed and said I was fine, but my mind was whirling. What had made me forget James and how was he able to make me remember again? What was that thing that he did with his eyes? Was it possible that he was not human? I shook my head to clear the crazy thoughts flying through my head. James noticed and asked me, "Are you sure you are okay?"

"Yeah, I am just a bit stressed out about everything that has been happening lately." He nodded in understanding and then reached to turn on the radio. The loud hum of the music helped to keep me distracted. We were sitting in peaceful quiet until James got a text. He quickly glanced at him phone, grimaced and then looked back at the road.

It took both of us a moment to notice, but there was a black sedan sitting in the road right in front of us. James swore under his breath and started braking. We weren't slowing down fast enough, we were going to hit the car. James swerved at the last second and we careened off the side of the road. I screamed and ducked as the car hit a tree and then started rolling. My vision was darkening, but I fought to remain conscious. James reached for my hand, but before I could squeeze it back, the world went dark.
