Chapter 5: Good Morning

Aphmau's POV

I felt heat on one side of my face slowly causing me to gain consciousness. I started to flutter my eyes open to reveal I was in a different location than where I was before. I started to panic, but then realized I was I my bed at Cadenza's house.

'How did I get here?'

I sat up and saw Laurance in his bed across from mine sleeping. I sighed in relief and smiled. I'm glad he came back and got some sleep. Wait, does that mean he- I cover my mouth as I felt heat rise to my cheeks.

He had to carry me here.

Just the thought of it got me flustered. He is my friend, but that still is embarrassing that I fell asleep. I quietly got out of bed and made my way to the side of Laurance's bed. He was still sleeping, but he didn't look very peaceful. He kept tossing and turning, occasionally, quietly mumbling things I couldn't hear. He must be having a bad dream, I didn't know wether to wake him up or let him get some rest. I decided leave him be and head downstairs. I was still half asleep so I tried my best not to completely fall down the stairs. When I made it down the stairs I found Cadenza baking in the kitchen, she looked over at me and smiled.

"Hey Aphmau! I'm glad you woke up, I will get
us breakfast. Take a seat." She greeted while grabbing plate from a nearby cabinet.

I nodded and sat down at the table we sat in yesterday. Cadenza walked in with two plates in hand with a piece of bread and jam on each. She sat down and placed the plates in front of us. I gave her a silent thank you and smiled.

"So Cadenza, I never asked you, but are you the Lord of Meteli?" She put down the piece of bread and sighed.

"Yeah, I became Lord about a year ago." She gave me a small smile. Things got silent very quickly after that.

"S-So that means Hayden is d-d-"

"He is still alive don't worry. He is getting older, and isn't doing well in health." She cut me off.

"When were you planing on telling Laurance about this?" I asked cautiously.

"Well, when ever he asked. I mean, he would have to of noticed sooner or later." She looked down slowly grabbing her piece of bread. "Which I was hopping would be later."  She mumbled the last part to herself.

"So what about you and Laurance?" She sat up in her seat clearly interested. She put her elbows on the table resting her head on top of her hands like a child.

"What? What about us?" My breathe was shaky, I feel like I know where this is going.

"You know! Have you guys resumed your friendship?" She giggled.

"Yeah, we are still friends." I felt my face get warm.

"Aphmau! You know what I am talking about! Have you guys progressed any?" She smirked at me. When we were younger she would always bother me about this. She never dared to do it in front of Laurance though. She teases me in a friendly way, she wouldn't embarrass me like that.

"Cadenza he just got back a day ago!" I laughed.

"I know I have waiting years for you both be old enough, Finally!" She shouted. She threw her hands over her mouth and I did the same shushing her. She could've just woken Laurance up from her squeals.

Great.

Once I knew for sure he was still asleep I removed my hands from coving her mouth.
She hasn't changed a bit.

"Cadenza!" I whisper-yelled. She laughed at my reaction which caused me to laugh as well.

"I know for sure you both will eventually develop feelings for each other. I'm supprised you guys have lasted this long. I can't see how people this close aren't more than friends." She huffed with a small smile stopping her pouting.

"W-We are just close friends.." I felt my face get warm again.

"You stuttered!" She pointed at me with her eyes filled with complete joy.

"So? You keep bringing up Laurance and I.. T-Together!" I put my hands on the table and stood up. At this point I can't deny that I'm stuttering. I'm a flustered mess.

"You did it again!" She jumped out of her seat and started dancing around.

"Gah! Cadenza stop!" I rolled my eyes laughing. "Can't we just have a normal breakfast." I said slamming myself back down in my seat.

"Because Breakfast is more important that your love life." she mumbled sitting back down.

"Breakfast is the most important meal of the day!" I smirked at her proud of my come back.

She just laughed, and stuffed the piece of bread in her face. I shook my head and giggled.

"You won't leave him will you?" She lifted her head a bit misty eyed. "Y-You said you don't have feelings for him, but you aren't going to just leave him right?"

"Oh- uh.. Cadenza, of course not. Why ask such a question?" Her expression made the atmosphere turn more serious. She cleared her throat and sighed.

"I just don't want him to be alone. He's wanted dead just from being associated with a shadow knight not including being one. He needs you Aphmau, he hasn't had someone with him for this long before." She sat up straighter trying to calm herself down.

"W-what about you? You've known him longer than me!"

"It's different with you, the way he acts around you isn't the same as he is with me. He never opens up to me." She smiled.

"Oh... I'm not going to leave him, I-I promise." I felt something wet run down my cheek until it fell down my face.

I'm crying?

"I-I u-uh.. Need to get something u-upstairs." I stood up struggling to get upstairs without falling.

I walked up the stairs and sighed. I don't know if it was even possible for someone to be this flustered. I sat on the front of my bed falling backwards onto the soft bed.

"Aph...mau.."

I immediately sat back up trying to find the owner of the voice. I scanned the room until I remembered Laurance was still sleeping. Wait, why is he saying my name? I slowly made my way to the side of his bed trying not to make a noise. He was tossing and turning, still mumbling.

I decided to stay and make sure he was okay, so he won't roll of the bed. I wasn't worried about him or anything.. I'm just making sure he is-
My thoughts were interrupted by Laurance. He was now randomly jerking. Maybe he isn't okay.

"Aphmau!" He yelled jerking up now sitting fully up. He was hyperventilating at the verge of tears.

I could tell this because we were only inches apart. I already knew I looked like a flustered mess. His crystal blue eyes staring into my hazel ones. He slowly started to calm down as we were frozen in this position. Soon enough a light blush colored his tear stained cheeks.

"Good morning..."

GUYS IM ALIVE YAY 😂 I REWROTE THE ENDING OF THIS CHAPTER BC I DIDNT LIKE IT AND I HAD WROTERS BLOCK 😩😂 I want to have a solid schedule, but I left the Aphmau fandom on Instagram last night so I don't know if I can continue this book. I will try of course, I probably will able to yay!
