Coming To An End

Time was too slow. Aiden now sat with his father and mother whom I found out their names was, Jack and Ella. Aiden sat on his mother's side, easily seeing he was uncomfterable.

 Her bright blue eyes caught mine as she smiled at me. Embarrassed, all I could do was look away as she giggles at my reaction. Corner of my eye she leans to Aiden whom was frustrated with his mother.

"Mother!" Corey yelled, catching everyone at the table's attention. Ella looked confused for an instant but quickly covered with anger. Ella glared at her two boys switching her eyes between them. Suddenly, she lashes at Aiden, smacking him behind his head and huffed in annoyance.

Ella then turned to us realizing what she did in front of everyone. "Sorry." She barely whispered, but the anger was still shown on her face. The atmosphere in the room was unpleasant and too quiet.

Finally Casey comes in the room with her workers with tray of food. Casey offered all kinds of desserts. She made it so, no matter your taste, you will always be satisfied.

Even when eating, no one spoke. Once in a while I can see people make eye contact as if they were having a secret conversation. Jessie was the worst one of them all. He would glance at Jack and his expression was different all the time. No matter how much I try to grab Cali attention, she seemed to look everywhere but me.

For another half an hour, no one spoke a word, except "please pass" or "Can I have" It was getting very annoying. This was to be Cali's birthday party, her time. By the way it was going, it was more like a secret meeting.

Glanced at the presents stacked on the side of the room, for I have waited for Cali to open mine.

Imagining Cali tearing up and crying from over happiness. I could see her running up sobbing as she hugs me, probably rubbing her nose in my dress. Speaking off, she never wore the dress I picked out. She was running too late, she didn't have time. She still looks good, but I know she would be upset when she sees it.

Another five minutes went by as everyone stares at their eaten dessert plates. I was ready to leave, I was done with waiting for someone to say something. This night was dragging way too long.

I sigh loudly to make a point, but just earned Casey's understanding sympathy and a glare to stay put. Not wanting to test her, I did. Another five minutes, I couldn't take it anymore. My body and mind was done with waiting for what? Nothing.

I stood up from the chair and apologies then turn to Jack at the end of the table, "Thank you for coming," then to Cali, "Happy birthday sis."

"If we are not planning on anything elts, I will have to excuse myself. It is getting late and some have work to do. So, if you excuse me." Nod and walk out.

The house was trashed by earlier events of kids drinking and being wild. There was trash and stuff everywhere. Still upset, I just go to my room and plow on my bed. Finally breathing the breath I was holding. My mind was confused with all the chaos that happened today.

Good thing, sleep came easy, for my body was too tired to even care to understand.
