Aria Winters

I'm gazing at the stars, not paying attention to reality. I connected the stars in my mind, making my own galaxy. My mom was sound asleep in her room after long hours of work. I exhaled deeply, my mind wandering in various places. I blinked, snapping out of my trance, peering across the road. I saw the boy with blonde hair. I curled one side of my mouth up into a smirk. I remembered the first time I met him.

{Flashback}

I frantically search for my health books, since I was already late to class. I threw my stuff around and sighed in frustration, stepping back. I felt my body hit another. I gasped and quickly spun around.

"Sorry." I breathed out.

"Oh no, don't worry about it." It was a boy. A boy with blonde hair that quiffs up perfectly. He had gorgeous crystal blue eyes that sparkled amongst the light. He had a black lip ring. I stared at the boy for a good second before I shook my head to focus, hoping that I didn't creep him out.

"I'm Luke, by the way." Luke added.

"Aria." I smiled a bit.

{Present day}

"You seem spaced out." Luke called from across the road.

"I am." I chuckled.

"How about you come down here? I have something to show you." He smiles.

"Ugh, Luke. You know I can't just sneak out like that. If my mom finds out she's going to kill me." I looked behind me to peer through my window.

"Oh come on Aria! Stop being a wimp."

"Okay there Hemmings. I'm not a wimp. I just don't want to get in trouble. I'm wanting to stay on my mom's good side."

"Please!! It'll only be for a second." He frowns. I glared at him for a bit.

"FINE." I slowly got up and made my way to my bedroom window. I crawl through and quietly shut my window. I quickly went to my closet to grab my black hoodie. I slightly opened my door. It made a quiet squeak.

"Please don't say you heard that mom." I whispered under my breath. I looked through the crack to see if the cost was clear. I quickly opened the door, hoping that it would make less noise. I walk down the hall and down the stairs. There it was. The front door. I could see Luke sitting on my porch. I took the house key from under the fruit bowl that laid on the kitchen counter. I walk outside and lock the door. I took a deep breath and released.

"wasn't so bad, was it?" Luke laughed a little bit.

"This better be important Luke!" I gave him a soft push and walked in front of him.

"So what is this about now?" I looked at Luke, seeing only the side of his face."

"I can't tell you what it is but I'm sure you'll love it."

"Better be you little shit." I laughed. Luke grabbed my wrist and tugged me towards his front yard.

"Okay the surprise is in my room."
"In your room?" I say in a joking matter.
"Oh come on. You've known me ever since the 8th grade. That's 4 years now. I'm not gonna hurt you."
"That's not what I meant." I turned around and looked across the street. No sign of my mother.
"You coming?" Luke turns the knob on the front door and walks in. I walk inside the house and shut the door behind me.
"Is your mom home?"
"Yeah she's sleeping but she doesn't mind if you're here." He smiles. Luke leads me upstairs and into his room. I plop down on his bed and comb my hair back.
"So what's the surprise?" I heard Luke open drawers and move things.
"Okay found it!" I sit up and look at Luke, his back turned towards me. I walked towards him and he turns around with a record album in his hand and t-shirt.
"I got a Counting Crows cd for you, and I also got this shirt for you." He hands me the gift. I set the cd down in his bed and I look at the t-shirt.
"The person who gave you this shirt will forever be your best friend." I read from the shirt.
"It's true." Luke smiles.
"Oh my god you are so lame Luke." He laughs at me.
"What? I thought it was funny."
"Thanks Luke. This means a lot." I hugged him tight, thankful for everything he's done for me.
"I just wanted to find a way to thank you for being there for me." Luke says as he releases from the hug.
"Anything for you Hemmings. I should be thanking you too." I pick up the counting crows album and examine it.
"Well hey, I'm not here to let you down." I give him a soft smile.
"Thank you so much. Look I have to go before my mom finds out I'm gone. Walk me?"
"Of course." We finally arrived at my front porch. The wind was blowing in my hair, the starts still glimmering bright.
"Thanks again Luke." I gave him a hug.
"You're welcome!" I walked into the house quietly. I could hear my mom snoring. Good. I put the house key back under the fruit bowl and walked up stairs to my mom. I slowly walk into my room and saw that my dress or mirror had lipstick all over it. It was a note.
'Think again before you leave the house during the night. LAST CHANCE ARI! - Mom'
Yikes. I jumped onto my bed and stared at my ceiling.
"Great now she's probably going to be in a bad mood tomorrow, but I guess this whole sneaking out thing was worth it." I whispered to myself
