A couple of weeks ago, I was hired for a job as a studio technician, and today is my first day. I can't exactly say that I'm excited because the interviewer didn't tell me much about the band I'm going to be working for. But whatever, a job is a job and I'll be making money. However, that's not the only thing that's motivating me; I love music more than life itself.

My dad is the one who started my love for music. When I was seven, he was already showing me Avenged Sevenfold and The Sex Pistols. I used to always listen to them with him...until a brain tumor took him away from me. I'm not depressed or anything. After all, that was ten years ago. I'm over it.

I start my car and throw my bag into the passenger seat. Using Waze, I drive to the address of the studio and walk inside. Some people are already inside with cups of coffee. Their heads immediately turn to me once the door closes behind me. An awkward silence falls upon everyone.

"Hi...I'm Cara. I was hired a couple of weeks ago. I'm the new studio technician," I introduce myself. "Hey," they all tiredly greet me back.

So much for that I think to myself. A tall girl with candy apple curls and brown eyes walks up to me with another coffee in her hand. She happily gives it to me and smiles kindly. She's wearing a black crop top, which goes just below her belly button and some floral shorts. In my opinion, she seems too nice to be hanging out with me. I'm a bit of a downer, but like I said, I'm not depressed.

"Hi, I'm Jill. You and I are gonna be working together, so think of the coffee as a...uh...new technician gift...if that's even a real thing," she laughs. I smile and take a sip of my coffee, gladly finding out it's straight up black coffee. She's my new favorite I think to myself. "Thanks for the coffee. I really needed it," I grin. I glance over at everyone else and begin to silently judge them. Probably hates me...definitely hates me...neutral hatred...gee whiz! I already know she's the white-girl-type! Damn it! She better not be working with me I judge in my mind.

"Hey, don't worry about them. They're pretty cool once you get to know them. They're just grumpy 'coz it's morning," Jill reassures me. "They'll probably end up hating me anyways! I'm pretty weird...and slightly crazy," I admit. Jill laughs before saying, "We all are." Okay. Jill's actually pretty cool. I misjudged her.
