Hena left two days after that. We both hugged and cried. She said she belonged at her home. She missed Pastrona. She missed Dalley, Tasha, her parents, and Tielle and Weston. She even missed Sengal, her pet ox. She went on Lindune's back and brought back Fermell so we could send letters to each other, except this time she promised she wouldn't let anyone find us.

Life goes on as normal. It has been over a year since Hena arrived on Hardlorn Island for the first time. Kaliana is nearing her tenth birthday. My parents will soon have a celebration with the whole family. She has been looking for houses and has found a nice little one in Lakman Village. Lakman Village is a nice little neighborhood on the western coast of Asluncia. The two of us looked at it together. It has a pretty view of the sea and is painted in pastel colors. It has a large porch which Kaliana wants to put some chairs on. Inside there are two rooms. One of them is the living room, with a quaint little fireplace made out of sea-smooth stones, and the other is the kitchen. There's no upstairs floor, but there's a loft that you get to by climbing a beautiful set of spiral stairs. Kaliana is very excited for her coming-of-age, as I was before mine.

I have gotten revenge on Sedalhil. Arvern and I left a basket of cookies on her front steps. They were filled with lawt, which is a powerful laxative! At the bottom of the basket I left a note: This is for embarrassing me in front of everyone. From Srarori. We had help from Aranee, who provided the lawt. She hadn't seen much of Sedalhil at the wedding, but she didn't like her. I also had inspiration from Hena, what with the story about charcoal and that bully. I wrote a long letter to her about it.

I am still Arvern's girlfriend. We have fun together all the time. He has talked to the Parliament and has been drafted officially to be a soldier for the army of Hereashana!
Aranee is now sometimes entrusted with looking after patients without Faila's help! Faila is getting very old. She will be seventy-four this October and is determined to pass her healing knowledge on to Aranee before she dies. Aranee and the boy she danced with at the wedding are also together. His name is Tretony and he's a cousin of Pemlon.
The Wind Riders have gotten a little more popular since Hena and I gave them that start last May. Wen and Tatch thank me repeatedly for it.
A few people have hired me to fix their walls and floors for a fair price. So far, they have all been happy with my work. I feel proud of myself.
Varnith and Pemlon are about to have a baby! If it's a boy, they want to name him Lumsan, and if a girl... Merelisa! Merelisa is that Hereaca word, if you don't remember, that sounds like "merilosta" and means "graceful".
Hena, as I have learned from her letters, is finally starting to get over Lorica's death. She sells carvings at Chakelithp Adornments and is making a fair amount of money on them.
But even with all of these wonderful things going on, I can't help reminiscing sometimes about the days when she and I still saw each other. After she left, I missed her sorely. She was one of the only people in my life whom I could count on to understand, one who cared about me whatever I did. But her letters always came, and so did mine, and to this day, she is still my best friend.
