“Hurry,” Ruth gasped to her friends as she blindly turned corners. Ruth chanced a look back and noticed that the men weren’t in her eye sight but she could still hear their footsteps.
“Shoot,” Natalie said as they ran into a dead end.
“Go back, go back,” Zayne waved as they turned around.
“Found you,” the leader of the men laughed as they fanned out to trap the kids. As the man grabbed the terrified Ruth, a blasting light flashed. A man stepped out of the light. The evil men covered their faces when the light appeared and when the man stepped out of the light, they fled in terror. Ruth looked at the man to say thank-you but her voice faltered. She looked at his scarred hands and his scarred feet, realizing who had just saved them.
“Jesus,” Delany said as she went and hugged the man. They all were hugging him in the end. A great sense of peace spread through each of them, chasing away the terror that was present just moments before.
“Come,” Jesus said waving them down the hallway they just came through.
“Coming, Jesus,” Ruth replied with a smile as they jogged to catch up to him.
“Go this way turn right twice, left then straight till you see the door,” Jesus said.
“Okay,” they said as they were about to leave. Ruth hung back as her friends started forward.
“Thank you Jesus,” Ruth said with a smile,” For everything.”
“Go and continue the church,” Jesus said with a warm smile, his eyes twinkling as he waved his hand in farewell
