CHAPTER 13.
The One In Which I Meet The Arrow (Damn, That Is One Stereotypically Hunky Superhero)

A/N: Sorry for the super late update guys! I got a little distracted writing a new Reverse Flash fanfic. This is just kind of a filler chapter I wrote a few months ago in case I was ever in need of a new chapter because of writer's block or something, but until I get time to write the next chapter, please make do with this!

"You have got to be kidding me," I muttered in disbelief when Ashalis finished their story. "Can I even do that? Give ordinary people superpowers?"

"Those people were supposed to die on the day of the particle accelerator incident, Abhorsen," the Ashalees hissed at her. "And yet, they're still roaming the streets of Central City. They are far from ordinary, and you made them that way. It seems that their brief time in the Dead Realm did something to them. Granted them incredible powers. Guess that is your reward for surviving death."

I shook my head. "Okay, so I gave some people superpowers. No offence, but so what? I mean, when the hell did Ashalis start giving a shit about humans? Because I can't imagine that it's the fact that I may have granted power to some pretty bad people that's got your panties in a twist." Behind me, I heard a small groan escape from Raymond's lips.

All five Ashalees simultaneously slammed their fists on the table in anger. "Take caution how you speak to us, Abhorsen! We made you, and we can just as easily break you."

"Yeah, yeah, whatever. So, are you going to tell me why you're panicking over a little mistake, or can I get the hell out of here?" Oh my god Ashalis was so going to murder me. It was like my mouth was on autopilot; the more nervous I was, the more of an asshole I always became.

"Just bringing people back from the dead is enough to get you executed," the Ashalees growled. "However, until we get this situation under control, I'm afraid we need you."

"What situation are you talking about?"

"There's a reason why necromancy is banned, Abhorsen. It upsets the fragile balance between the Human and Amersian realms. The consequences of tipping this scale is not something you want to experience."

"And what consequences are you talking about?" I asked impatiently.

Behind me, Raymond whispered, "Zombies."

"The living dead," the Ashalees confirmed. "Your absec will be overrun by them. If you do not return the humans who were supposed to die that night to the dead realm, Amersia will stop accepting the dead into their fold."

"They're very touchy that way," Raymond explained.

"Then," Ashalis continued, "the spirits of the people who die will be stuck inside inside their decaying bodies, turning them, as Mr. Horowitz so elegantly put it, into zombies. Mindless creatures roaming around the streets of Central City as their body slowly starts to decompose because all their vital organs have stopped working."

I gulped. "That would... definitely not be good," I agreed. "So, I'm guessing you have a solution to stop this 'zombie apocalypse' from ever happening?"

"Yes," the Ashalees confirmed. "Send the metahumans - the people who were supposed to die on the night of the particle accelerator explosion, those who now have powers no human should ever have - back to where they belong, to Amersia, and you may still be able to save your Absec."
