I sat on my couch, sipping a warm cup of hot cocoa and playing games on my smart phone. I did this every evening after work. Little did I know that tonight that would all change.
Suddenly an ad for a new game popped up on my screen.
'Magic Wand App', the title sparkled at me. I clicked on the ad and it took me to the App Store to download it. Strange thing was, there were no details about it in the description, or even any reviews.
"Hmm, must have just come out?" I shrugged to myself. I clicked the download button and a few minutes later the app jumped up on my phone.
"Alright, what does this baby do?" I clicked it open and a bright pink animation of a wand greeted me. Tapping the animation did nothing, and shaking my phone only shook the animation on the screen.
I groaned, "What a waste of 99 cents." I exited out of the app and held down on the icon with my thumb to get it to delete.
Nothing happened.
I furrowed my brows, "Huh?"
I tried again, and still nothing happened.
"I wish I hadn't of spent 99 cents on this thing."
As soon as I said that, my whole phone began to buzz and sparkle.
"What the heck!" I yelled, throwing the phone across the room.
It continued for about thirty seconds until it finally stopped.
"Ooohhhhkay?" I stood up and cautiously approached my phone.
I picked it up off the floor and looked at the screen. Luckily it wasn't broken, which was surprising since I threw it and all.
What just happened?
I opened my contacts list. Tapping on my friend Joseph's name, I pressed the call button.
"Hello?"
"Joe, something weird is going on."
"What happened, Marie? Are you okay?!"
"I'm fine. I think. I downloaded this new app an-"
"Oh, here we go," I could sense him rolling his eyes on the other end.
"Hey! What's that supposed to mean?!"
"It's just that every time you get a new app you get addicted and have to tell everyone you know about it."
"No I don't!"
"Lies."
"Shut up and listen!" I stomped my foot.
"I'm going to bed. Bye."
"Joseph!"
"Bye, Marie."
"Joseph!"
He hung up.
"Jerk!"
I frowned and looked at the time, it was already 12 o'clock at night! Sighing, I walked over to my charger and plugged my phone up for the night. Then I proceeded to finish getting ready for bed. I hoped that tomorrow I could figure out what was going on with my phone. First thing in the morning I was going to the phone store to get some answers.

"Please, you have to believe me!"
"Sorry ma'am, what you are saying is just not possible."
I leaned against the counter of a phone store in the mall, "It happened, I swear!"
"No need to get defensive, ma'am," reasoned the tall man working behind the counter, "I'm just saying that there has never been a case of sparkles shooting out of a phone before."
"But. It. Happened!"
"Do you have proof of this, ma'am?"
That's when I lost it, "PROOF? PROOF?!" I exclaimed, getting up in the employee's face, "I SAW IT WITH MY OWN EYES! WHAT MORE PROOF DO YOU NEED?!"
Innocent bystanders began to stop and stare at the scene before them.
"Please, ma'am, just calm down."
"CALM DOWN? CALM DOWN!?" I flapped my arms frantically in the air, "DON'T TELL ME TO CALM DOWN!"
The worker picked up the phone beside him, "Yes, security? We have a crazy woman at the phone store."
"CRAZY? CRAZY?! HOW DARE YOU! I AM NOT CRAZY! I SAW IT WITH MY OWN EYES!"
Suddenly I was picked up by a big burly man, "Hey! Put me down! I'll sue!"
"Be quite!" He snarled at me as he carried me out of the mall.
"PUT ME DOWN!" I punched and kicked at the man until he dropped me onto the sidewalk and walked away.
I sniffed, "How rude." I stood up and brushed the dirt off my bottom.
"I wish I had a coat. It's flipping freezing out here."
That's when my phone and my pocket once again began to buzz and sparkle. I pulled it out threw it across the road, while screaming like a banshee.
In a flash, a coat appeared in my hands out of nowhere.
"What the heck?!"
I held it up. It was just my size, and a popular name brand too.
My eyes grew wide as saucers.
Magic Wand App.
The app was magic!
I ran over to my phone, while slipping my coat on. I picked up the phone, and thankfully, it wasn't scratched.
I immediately called Joseph.
"Hello, Marie."
"Joe! You just got off right? Can you pick me up at the mall? I took a taxi and I was thrown out. I need to talk to you."
"Wait, thrown out? What did you do this time?"
"Shut up and come get me Joseph!
"Alright, alright. Seesh. I'm on my way."
