Joseph pulled up in his shiny blue convertible, an annoyed look etched on his face. Despite his frowning face, his dark hair and skin shined in the sun. He was gorgeous, but I would never admit to having a huge crush on him.

"Get in," he sighed, reaching over to open the car door on the passenger side. I hopped in and buckled my seat belt.

"Nice coat. Is that new?"

"Yeah. I got it a couple of seconds ago."

"Wait a minute, isn't that a name brand? How did you afford it? Oh my gosh... Did you steal it?!"

"No!" I slammed the car door shut, "Shut up and drive. I'll tell you everything on the way."

Joseph rolled his eyes as he put the car in gear and drove out of the mall parking lot, "Okay. Explain."

"Remember last night when I tried to call you?"

"This isn't about that stupid app again, is it?" He groaned.

"No! Well... yes but-"

"Please Marie, just drop it. No one cares about your phone addiction."

"Joseph!"

"Marie," He shot me a look that vaguely reminded me of when my father used to scold me for stealing cookies from my mom's cookie jar.

"But it's serious!"

"Marie, I wish you'd just be quiet for five minutes."

As soon as he said that my phone began to buzz and sparkle in my hand, "Hey! Wait! No! Take that back! Joseph!"

"What's going on, Marie?!" Joseph swerved off the road and into a gas station parking lot.

Then there was a bright flash, and when it was gone my lips were stuck as if someone glued them together.

"Marie?!" Joseph looked at me, "What did you do?"

"Mmhm!" I tried to speak but it didn't work.

"What?!"

I shoved my phone at him, tapping on the screen, "Mm!"

Joseph took a while to figure it out, but when he did his face turned ghostly pale.

"Marie! Why didn't you tell me about this!"

I slapped him.

"Hey!... Ohh! This was what you were trying to tell me!"

I slapped him again.

"Okay! Okay! I get it! I'm sorry! Please stop slapping me!"

"Mm hmm!"

"Huh?"

"Mmmmmmhmmm!!"

"Sorrry Marie. I can't understand a word you're saying."

"Mmmhm!"

And so we rode in silence. That is, until the five minutes wore off just as Joseph was pulling into my driveway.

"I can't believe you didn't believe me!" I screeched.

Joseph jumped in shock, "Don't scream! You scared me! And I didn't give you a chance to tell me what was going on anyway, so technically you have no reason to accuse me of not believing."

I slapped him, "And you were such a jerk for that!"

"Geez! I'm sorry! I know, I should've let you explain. I'm sorry."
