Hours past and I still lay beside my lifeless mother. "I'm sorry. Mom, I'm sorry. I should've been with you. I should've always been with you. Please forgive me." I cried. As I thought she would've not awake, I forgot I currently live in a world where zombies roam the earth, and how she can turn. Her arms flinched. Her head twitched. Then, her now cloudy eyes fluttered open. "Oh god. Mom, mom this isn't right," groans escape my mothers mouth. Her skin was pale, and her clothes were bloody. Her eyes roamed around the store, and then they landed on me. With tears in my eyes, words spilled out of my mouth. "I know I messed up. I wasn't the kid you wanted me to be. But I damn well tried. I'll see you soon. Goodbye darling." Remembering the last words my mom said to me. I put my gun to her head and pulled the trigger. Gone. In just one second. I take a deep breath and stand up on my feet. "I gotta go before everyone else turns." I mumble under my breath. I wipe my tears and head out. "Man, the world gone to shit too quickly. I have to find people. A new start is what I need. I need to get used to this." I am trying to be strong. I really am. It's not like me to be brave or strong. I'm gentle with every object I touch, and I don't seem like a fighter. But this is the new world, and I got to cope with this. I keep my gun close to my side, gripping it tight. I jog the other way, where it seemed no zombies were. I got about to where a forest starts, until I heard a raspy voice behind me. Not a zombie. A human.
