Carter

I've been with mystery girl for possibly three days now and she still hasn't told me her name. I've nicknamed her Mystery though... (a/n; just realized 😭 like spongebob's seahorse "mystery" 😭)

Of course she still doesn't trust me yet she doesn't have me on a leash like some sort of dog.

"Come help me with this." Mystery asked, and I came over to the blocked entryway she was standing in front of.

Tons of debris was covering it up, only a portion of the top revealed.

"I do NOT, think we're gonna get through that." I chuckle lightly, passing my hand over it gently. Some of it's dust falls, filling the air, making both of us cough and fan the air.

"Yeah we can." She tells me, and passes me a cloth. I put it over my mouth and nose, she props up her bandana to cover up as well.

We both pull and pick at the rubble, laughing and coughing as the dust fills the air, some covering our arms making us look dirtier than before.

"Damn." I cough one last time, clearing up my throat. I put the cloth in my pocket, stepping over the rubble we cleared.

I pull my gun up, walking into the center of the room.

I look around, seeing a couple picture frames hung up on the walls.

I go over to a counter by the corner of the room, going behind it. I crouch down, scanning over the empty shelves. "Don't have diddly-squat over here." I call out, and bring myself back up.

I see her going into another room and I huff, looking over anything else that catches my eye.

-

"Nothing." She huffs, sitting down on the curb of the strip mall's entrance.

"The world is running out... There's no one making stuff. There's no shipping, there's no sending." I tell her, and she huffs again, nodding her head.

"Then we'll need to search quicker. Anyone can be anywhere and they'll be taking a lot when they find out how quick this is all beginning to dry up..." She cracks her knuckles, and I stand up.

"Then c'mon, let's go." I offer my hand, and she looks up at me questioningly. She glances from my gaze to my hand repeatedly, and I put my other hand on my hip.

"I don't have all day..." I huff jokingly, and she takes my hand, letting me pull her up.

"Where should we go?" I ask, and she pulls out her compass. "Hold on." She tells me, staring down at it. She looks back up at the road, looking back and forth.

"C'mon prisoner."

Mystery
(No, that's not really her name...)

He followed beside me, only looking around with silence.

"Look, a train stop." I tell him.

We go over to it, stepping over the train tracks heading into the other two directions.

He tries to open the door, but it's locked.

I go over to the large window in the front, tapping on it. "It's glass." I tell him, and search for a large rock. Once I find one, I throw it at the window, making it shatter and scatter all over.
