Fatal Romance

Chapter 17

Natayshia's POV.

After the meeting with the Alpha's, Kelner and I went to my office and spent time going over the new pack treaties and organizing them in the files with the correct categories. Categories like packs we would call in for fighting assistance, packs that have the best trackers, and packs that would be able to help us with problems we may have overseas. After we finished that and any other pack work that needed finishing, we spent the rest of the day together and went out for dinner and a movie. Then we came home late and went straight to sleep.

Waking up early is never an easy task but of course someone has to call my direct line and wake me up even earlier than I need to. One minute I'm sleeping peacefully and the next I'm being woken up at six-thirty, is there no form of respect anymore?

After the second ring, grumbling reach over and grab the phone out of its holster, whoever is on the other line better be okay with my atrocious morning voice "Good morning, Alpha Natayshia", a relieved but panicked sigh reaches my ear from the other end "Alpha, Alpha Natayshia, I'm so sorry to wake you up so early but I am Raimington Battles, Beta of the Red Wolf Pack. I was hoping I could speak with my Alpha, something bad has happened back here and he needs to know about it right away."

I turn my body back to face Kelner and pat him on the shoulder with a slight shake to wake him, he groggily opens his eyes and rubs his right hand over his chest in discomfort "yes of course, he's right next to me. Here he is." I don't say anything else and hand the phone to Kelner without further ado. "Hello? Raimington what's wrong? Wait...what?!" He moves from his resting position and quickly jumps out of the bed and begins to agitatedly pace along the floor, his tone makes me wring my hands in nervousness. "Okay...okay, yeah I'll be leaving as soon as I can. Prepare for my arrival, don't let them move anything, I need to see everything just as it was found. I'll see you soon, yup, bye."

I watch from my perch on the bed as he turns off the phone and turns to me; I have a feeling I already know what he needs to do, I just don't know the reason why. "Naya I'm sorry but I need to leave. I know you have your pack to take care of but seeing as I'm next in line I need to return to take care of this situation back home. Sadly a family from my pack was murdered, I don't know all the details but I do know that it was gory and no one found them till this morning. It's really bad Naya, I have to be there for them."

I get up and press both of my hands together, I'm anxious for his pack members after hearing what has happened, one day I will rule Kelner's pack along side him. I care about his pack just the same as I do my own, I will even use my pack to help them if I need to. Resolve flows into my heart and I stand up abrupty "They are going to be my pack too Kelner, you are not going without me."

"I can't ask that of you Naya, I'm not sure you should come. No matter how much I want you to." I square my shoulders and look up into his eyes "well then don't ask me, I'm telling you I'm coming with you. Now that I am Alpha, the pack will be fine without me for a little while longer. We shall go and take care of your pack right away" I step forward and grab his hands, "we will do this together. I wouldn't have it any other way." I watch him close his eyes, take a deep breath and blow it out harshly, "alright, then let's get ourselves ready for departure."

Quickly we pack our things and head down to the car that he drove in, before we leave the house I walk to my office and mindlink Trent to meet me there. As I walk in I see he's already standing inside waiting for me "I have to go, I need you to take care of the pack. There has been the murder of a family in Kelner's pack and I need to be with him, his pack will one day be mine, I feel a responsibility for them. I'll have my cell so call me if you need me and I will come back when needed. If the pack is showing a need for me I will return as fast as I can."

"Nattie, go. I've got this, you need to focus on your mate and how you can support him. You don't need to worry about us over here, I'll call you when I need confirmation on anything and if the pack needs you." He steps forward and palms my face in his hands "you're my best friend. We've known each other our whole lives and know the inner workings of each others minds, I know how important this is to you. Now go and be the Luna that pack needs you to be." Trent pulls me to the door, kisses me on the forehead and shoves me out of my own office. I turn to him slightly with a snarl on my lips but all he does is blow a kiss to me and waves goodbye while he exists my office and makes his way to his.

I ignore his childish behaviour and make my way to the front entrance where Kelner is waiting for me. I take his hand as I reach him and together we walk to his car. Now is the time for us to go and find out exactly what's happened at his home.

As we reach his territory we don't even go straight to the pack house, we take a path that leads to the homes of the pack members who have decided to live on their own around the territory. We drive for about twenty minutes until we pull up to a secluded house where I see a forensic team and warriors moving in and out of the house.

Kelner and I get out of his car and make our way into the house, as we step just inside the entrance a warrior from his pack comes up to us "Alpha Kelner, I'm glad you're back. I'm sorry you have to return sooner then planned. Especially for this tragedy." Kelner lifts his hand and rests it on the warriors shoulder "this is soon to be my pack in a few days Render, it is my responsibility to be here. So they were found dead this morning? Have they made any discoveries as to who might be responsible for their deaths?"

The warrior shakes his head and begins to slowly lead us up the stairs, from what I can see with just a brief glance- to my left is a living room, "no they have no idea yet. As of now it looks as though the culprit came in, clean without a trace and left the same way. Whoever did this appears to know what they are doing or they planned this out very well." Kelner thoughtfully nods his head, "who found the bodies?"

The warrior looks at me for a split second with a nervous look in his eyes and then turns to Kelner, he opens his mouth about to answer but before he can release one syllable he is interrupted, "Kelner?! Oh Kelner you're back! I missed you so much!"

Yes, I know it is an extremely late late update but I've been so busy working on my other two books that I had no time for this one...also I don't know where I wanted to take this book but here it is!!
