Kelner's POV.
After we saw the bodies I removed Natayshia and I from the room and stepped outside. I had to clear my nose from the smell, the heavy scent of decay was in the air along with the heavy scent of stale blood. I held tightly onto her for comfort, I have never seen deaths quite like these ones. It astounds me, I'm left without words.
I've been in wars and have seen the horrific aftermaths due to brutal battles but not like this, never like this. It makes me sick, what could give someone a reason to do this.
I step outside the house with Naya and see Lydia has been waiting outside all this time, I feel Naya's hand grip tighter to me and I queeze back in reassurance. Lydia jogs towards us, anger clear in her features and determination in her eyes. "Well Kelner, now that you've seen them what are you going to do about it. Whoever did this to them deserves to be punished! I don't want to think that the harsh man I've always known has become soft just because he's found his mate" she says in a hard but forceful tone and I watch her eyes flicker to my mate with a badly hidden look of disgust.
Before I can even say I word my mate speaks up, "you think I will hold my mate back from finding the person who did this? To stop him from inflicting a well deserved harsh punishment?" Her laugh is aggressive and deep, "you're wrong if you think that. If he does soften his punishment you can rest assured that it will be me who will peel the flesh off their skin slowly if it's the last thing I do. I am an Alpha, which means when pack members are hurt and it hurts my mate: there is nothing that will hold me back or restrain my rath. Not even Kelner." I watch Lydia flinch at my mate's words and a slight glimmer of fear enters her eyes while she unknowingly steps back. I never knew my mate had this side in her too, it seems I still have much to learn about her.
I sigh deeply, I am not prepared for arranging the funerals. Their deaths will lie heavily on the whole pack. I already feel the muscles in my back begin to ache just thinking about all the work I have to do. "Let's go Naya, I don't want to be here any longer," she nods her head and follows me to my car. I feel Lydia following behind us, I turn and look at her lifting my right eyebrow as my eyes meet hers in question, "would...would you mind driving me back to the pack house? I walked here this morning." I nod my head and motion for her to wait. I pull Naya back in the direction of the car and move her to the passenger side of the car. Opening the passenger door I politely help my mate into her seat and buckle her in.
I move to my side of the car and open my door, "alright Lydia. Come on, you can take your seat in the back." She quickly shuffles her way towards the car while I take my seat in the front and turn the car on, the moment I hear the back door close I drive off. Usually I wouldn't be so impolite but when Lydia and I were dating I would open the door for her and help her in the car, now that I have my mate she is the only one who I will give that privilege to. I would have opened the door to Lydia or anyone else in my pack as a gentleman but since Lydia used to be treated with more consideration in the past, I need to show her where her place is.
As I pull onto the road back to the pack house I grab Naya's hand and hold it in mine tenderly, rubbing my thumb along the back of her hand. The back of the car is completely quiet and I am grateful for it, I really have no patience for more drama. Once we reach the pack house we all get out and I open the door for Naya first and allowing Lydia to follow after.
I see Samuel, on of the teenagers in my pack walking down the hallway, "Hey Samuel," he continues coming down the hallway towards me with a smile on his face. "Yes, Kelner? What can I do for you?" I'm not Alpha yet so of course he can still call me by my name, also I have been his teacher in fighting and I told him to speak comfortably with me "will you be so kind as to drive my car around? I've left it at the front and I'm wanting to get to my work right away. You wouldn't mind would you?"
I feel Naya's confusion to our familiarity in conversation and I turn to explain. "I used to train Samuel and he used to always call my Alpha, it started grating on my nerves so I've told him to call me by my name." She smiles at me in understanding, "it's true Alpha Natayshia, he used to wake me up at the crack of dawn just to get running." I watch as a sly look brightens her eyes, "Oh really? Well I hope for all the early mornings you had to get up for, he was at least I good teacher." I stand there with my mouth hanging open, "you so boldly doubt my fighting skills and my ability to teach them?"
She lets go of my hand and saunters in the direction of my office, "Oh no darling. I doubt doubt that you have skills. What I do doubt is if they can possibly be as good as mine." Throughout her whole speech she sways her hips and my eyes focus on her perky little butt as her words register in my mind, and before another word is said I chase after her. Behind me I can hear Lydia mumbling about Naya's disrespect for me but all I can think about is trying to catch my mate and thinking about the moment I can truly put her cocky words to the test.
This should be interesting. It's really too bad I have paper work to do first. That's when I remember the important task I have to do and my chest contracts in sadness. Even with the groomy task I soon have to handle, I still am focused on the one my mate just 'handed' to me. I'm going to enjoy this. Better run my little kitty cat.
