73rd hunger games {finnicks sister}

Ariel POV :

Life for myself has never been easy, but that's the same for every kid in the districts. Unless you're from a rich district you'll mostly grow up poor, with little or nothing to eat causing you to be weak and I'll. but days like today are always harder. Today 24 kids are stolen from their parents and only one will return. But they won't really return, sure they'll be present physically but mentally they died in that arena alongside those other kids.
Today is reaping day and I have a high chance of getting my name picked simply because my older brother finnick won his games. Winning the games provide a life of luxury and safety according to the Capitol but that's only if you do their every last command. One wrong step and your family is dead. I'm sitting alone in the victors village because finnick is almost never away from the Capitol. He's coming back today, but I wish it was for a better reason. Finnick doesn't know that fish. I use throwing knives and when I come back ashore I keep two fish for myself and give the rest to the poor people of district 4 because we were once just like them before finnick won his games.

Before finnick won we were poor, barely able to catch enough fish to eat. But now we live a life of luxury. We are able to have whatever we want so I like to help the people who are in the same situation as I was.

The door opens and finnick comes in. I run in to his arms so happy to see my big brother.

"Hey their Ari. How's things been keeping in district 4?"

"Alright but it's boring that you're not here."

"I know but I have lots to do in the Capitol."

"I know that. Now go take a seat. There's bread in the kitchen. Take some if you want. I need to go get ready."

Finnick just nods his head whilst I go upstairs and get ready. Sitting on my bed is a blue ocean flowy dress. It goes to just above my knees and fits me perfectly. I slip into silver wedges. I'm one of the few girls in district 4 that can walk in them. I walk in to the kitchen and finnick looks up. He walks over and gives me a hug.

"Are you ready."

"Never but I don't really have a choice do I."

With that we leave. Finnick goes to the justice building whilst I get registered and stand with the 14 year olds.

Minutes later Beau Bow comes out. She is the Capitol citizen who could kill me. If she grabs my name I will probably die.

"Welcome to the reaping of the 73rd hunger games. We have a special video from the Capitol." We watch the treaty of treason video and then Beau starts to speak again. "Now let's get this started. As usual ladies first." She walks over to the bowl and picks out a name. This could be the end of me.

"Ariel Odair"

I watch as finnick has a breakdown and is dragged in to the justice building. Our older brother and sister went in to the games and died. Finnick was the only Odair to survive. Now he is going to loose his only family member left.

I walk up to the stage. I see Annie and mags both crying. They are family to me. Mags like a mother and Annie like a sister.

"Now for the boys." Beau walks over and picks a name. "Jules Derry ". I recognise him. He is one of the boys who pick on me at school because I have no family left and that finnick is always away. I know he acts big but I think the arena will break him.

He is up in the stage. "Ladies and gentlemen our tributes for district 4. Ariel Odair and jules Derry. Shake hands now." I shake his hand and then we are escorted in to the justice building.
