Bad Timing - The Final Chapter

The next day, you lay in bed contemplating last night. Laura told you she loved you. Laura told you she loved you. Why didn't you say it back? Why can't you say it back? Oh gosh, oh god, you have to leave. You stare at the tiny girl with golden hair sleeping next to you. Normally this would calm you down but right now it's making you even more anxious. You get up and quickly start changing. She stirs in her sleep and you groan to yourself.
"Carm?" She lets out sleepily.
"Hey, cupcake." You whisper with a forced smile.
You need to get out of here. You tug off your shirt and put a new one on.
"Where are you going?"
"Uh, I have to leave." You say, pulling your pants on and zipping them up.
Within seconds you're out the bedroom door and you're almost out of the house when she stops you. You squint, anxious.
"Carm, are you okay?"
"No- I mean yeah but- I have plans with- With Mattie." You say opening the front door and slamming it in her face.

Okay, what the hell was that? She just left you in her house. Mattie, your ass, she didn't want to be alone with you, you made her uncomfortable. God damn your epiphany last night. But it felt so good to say it, to feel it. You love Carmilla Karnstein. Although, you have no idea if Carmilla Karnstein loves you. These last few months have been fucking insane. You were proposed to, realized you were in love with your best friend and now realized she may not love you back. Fuck. What if she doesn't? Oh god, what if you just fucked up the entire friendship?! What if she's in a relationship and didn't tell you?! What if she hates you?! Okay let's not go that far. OR MAYBE YOU SHOULD! Oh god, oh god, oh god.

"She WHAT?!" Mattie yells as you're playing with Will, trying to calm your nerves.
"I know." You say, feeling your nerves tensing again. Will giggles and you smile softly at him.
"Well, did you say it back?" You cringe and her head flies back in disappointment.
"Carmilla." She's pinching the bridge of her nose with her pointer finger and her thumb.
"I know..." You say picking up Will and sitting across from her, bouncing the boy on your lap as he plays with a ring of keys.
"Why didn't you say it back, imbecile?!"
"I don't know, it just couldn't come out and then I left her in my house."
"Oh my god, Carmilla."
"I know- but I can't- I can't talk to her." Mattie takes her son from you and starts feeding him some oatmeal.
"You said I could feed Will today!"
"Yeah but assholes don't get to feed babies."
You roll your eyes and slump back in your chair.

It's been 2 weeks and Carmilla still hasn't spoken one word to you. Every time you try to text her she just ignores it. You think maybe she blocked you. Why do you keep wrapping yourself up in this, you're getting married!
"Laura!" Danny snaps in front of  your face.
"What?! What? I'm sorry."
"The cake?" You're cake tasting for the wedding and you couldn't feel worse.
"I like the chocolate."
"I told you, we can't have a chocolate cake for the wedding unless it's white chocolate which you don't like. So please pick one of these!"
"I don't like any of these." Carmilla would let you get a chocolate cake, you think.
"We like the cinnamon." Danny says, god you despise that. WE. Oh god, it's so gross.
You figure if Carmilla isn't going to bother loving you, you should at least try to love Danny the way she loves you. Unlike that fucking asshole who clearly doesn't give a shit about your feelings. And asshole that you're completely and totally head over heels for.

You sit down in your usual booth and sigh. This isn't the same without her, you feel like you're betraying her. You open your phone for the thousandth time trying to text her but you just can't think of anything to say. You need to leave right now, before this girl even comes. You don't want to be here. You begged LaF and Perry to set you up with someone and reluctantly, they finally did. Now all you can think about is Laura. She's all you ever think about. You wait five more minutes and- Oh my god. 

"If it isn't Carmilla Karnstein." Sam says in a sultry tone.

You stand to greet her but are immediately met with a deep kiss. You shamefully push her away and sit down.
