Chapter 7

(Friday)

With a big yawn you sat up and wiped the sleep from your eyes. You nearly threw off your covers if you hadn't remembered about the shimejis that were still sleeping at the foot of your bed. You quietly got up and looked at the clock. Huh? The alarm didn't go off yet. Your sleepy mind finally realized that it was 5:30 A.M instead of 6:30 A.M. I got up earlier than usual? That's really strange. You shrugged and rolled with it, making your way into the bathroom for a hot shower. Afterwards you brushed your hair and went back into your room.

On a regular day, you could just went in there normally but you had special guests and couldn't afford one of them waking up. You decided on your favorite shirt and a pair of jeans you just pulled out from your closet and returned to the bathroom. You dressed, ate breakfast, and brushed your teeth quickly, giving you enough time to play Undertale. You plopped on the couch with your laptop and looked for the icon. Strangely, it was no longer named Undertale, and was named "Game" instead. You double clicked it and continued. The starting music didn't play, so naturally you checked the volume, which was halfway up. The story also did not play but you didn't let it bother you and named your character as usual after the black screen had passed.

Upon walking out of the first entrance of the cave, you were of course met with Flowey. You knew his entire dialogue and dodged the "friendliness pellets" to get a laugh and a inescapable circle of them. Only this time, they actually killed you...? Where was Toriel? You were met with the typical Game Over screen with no music. You again, walked out of the entrance and met Flowey once again. "Heh. Back again? I told you, in this world it's kill or be killed!" Not even a chance was given to you as he killed you over and over again.

You shut down the game in frustration and went on YouTube to watch your favorite YouTuber continue the series. They were met with the same problem as you and couldn't get past Flowey as well, with Toriel no where to be seen. What's going on? Your forehead wrinkled up as you closed your laptop and walked back upstairs to peek in your room. They were still asleep and you looked at the clock again. (you really like knowing the time, ok.) It read 6:15 A.M. What to do now? You decided to leave out some food for them to eat and trusted them with your laptop, which you placed on your pillow and left a sticky note. It read: Please don't mess up my laptop, watch Mew Mew Kissy Cutie and be good.

After that, you took a well deserved nap but made sure to set an alarm for 7:15.

~Time Skip (after school)~

You threw off your book bag as you walked in and locked the front door back. You could hear the voices of the tiny monsters whispering, "Y/N's back." You walked upstairs to greet them and they all froze in place, giving you a huge guilty smile. "What did you guys do this time?" You walked over towards them and they began stammering and avoiding eye contact. "N-nothing!" Asgore said and then quickly hid in his cape. You looked over at your computer and your eyes widened. They were playing Undertale..?

"Uh... How did you guys get to this?" "W-we were just l-looking for uh..." Alphys trailed off. Mettaton was still in the mirror or acting his dramatic poses and cat walks. "we finished mew mew kissy cutie and looked for something else." Sans replied. "Yes, that is right, my child." "THIS GAME DOESNT HAVE ENOUGH OF ME IN IT." "Or me~" "Um, Papyrus and Mettaton. It didn't have you in it at all.." Asgore said sheepishly, peeking out his cape. "OH." Mettaton gave the game a dirty look and resumed doing what he was doing. The shimejis started chattering away and you took this time to process this. Not even they can get on? The characters of the very game. Your blood ran cold as the realization hit you.

Because they are no longer in the game it no longer exists.

You quickly grabbed the laptop to prove your point, which was indeed true. The game was slowly dissolving into nothing as you couldn't even play as a character anymore. You were just a white dot in a black void. Flowey was still there however, yet he was now aware of what was happening. He no longer attacked you and looked somewhat terrified. You approached him in the game and he was sweating. "H-hey, you!!! W-w-what did you d-do?!" The choices for dialogue came up. "Nothing." You lied. "Ha. Like I-I'll believe that for a second." Flowey's pixels began disappearing and he started to blend in with the rest of the dark abyss. He was now shaking and crying. "h-help me.." You attempted to save him, but he faded too quickly as the game shut down.

The typical heart icon was replaced with a black square and the game's name was now "Empty". You sat on the bed and covered your face with your hands to prevent you from crying. "What's wrong, Y/N?" They all were looking at you with a concerned look, even Mettaton. You had no choice to explain what was going on. They all looked shocked and sat down to take everything in, with the exception of Sans who just stood there. "Wow.." That was all Asgore could say. "I did not know we were this important." Toriel hung her head. "BUT Y/N! IF WE GO BACK, WE WON'T BE ABLE TO STAY WITH YOU!" You nearly cried after he said that since he was right. They would forget everything about you and you'd be left with just memories.
