Chapter 14- Candice Avalon
How did he find out?
Why is he asking for them again? I thought he gave up!
Dammit, Candice! Get a hold of yourself!
"What the hell is his problem?" I hissed to myself after blocking his number.
I took in deep breaths and decided to call Penny.
She'd know what to do.
I hope.
"Hello?" Her voice cracked through the phone.
Her voice sounded different. It's as if she stayed up all night and didn't get enough sleep.
But, I had my own problem. I can ask her about her voice later.
Call me selfish, but I don't usually care about another person's well-being.
"Penny," I whispered, my voice shaky. "He texted."
"What? Who?" Penny demanded.
I grimaced, "My... Father."
He wasn't worthy enough to be called a dad. Hell, he wasn't worthy enough to be a father.
Penny gasped, "What does he want?"
I gulped.
This is the part where I regret everything.
I regret the fact that I stole all my dad's guns and money. I regret that I left him with absolutely nothing except for some clothes.
I nervously kicked the case under my bed that had all the guns.
"Uh, can we talk abut this tomorrow? Privately." I asked, grabbing the case and pulling it onto my bed.
Penny cleared her throat, "Yeah. Yeah, sure."
I hung up, letting out a stressed out sigh. After a few moments of silence, I place my phone on my side table.
I carefully opened up the case that was really dusty, might I add.
Then there they were, the money that was all bundled up and the guns.
I grabbed one of the guns.
I wonder if I still know how to handle these things.
When I was younger, my father decided to teach me how to do all these things.
He was dysfunctional even before my mom passed away.
I suck in a shaky breath and put it back in the case.
"Candice! We're back!" I heard my dearest uncle yell happily.
My eyes widened before I closed the case and put it back under the bed. I dashed towards the light switch and turned off all the lights before going back to my bed.
As the door opened, I closed my eyes and "slept".
"She's asleep already." Chris states, his voice shaky.
"You think she knows?"
I heard a sob, "I don't know. I'm scared."
"He's not gonna hurt you anymore, I promise."
I close my eyes tighter when I remembered my uncle's bloody and bruised body laying on the ground.
It was all my fault.
"Come on, let's leave her to sleep."
And I did, I drifted off into dreamland after that.

Hey Penny, I have guns under my bed.
Nope. That is the worst way of telling my therapist that there are guns under my bed.
"Candice? I'm so sorry I'm late." Penny's eyes widened when she saw me seated on a beanbag.
I nervously smiled.
Penny gave me a strange look and walked closer to me.
I stood up and cleared my throat, "About last night, there's something important I need to tell you."
"Go ahead, what is it?"
Okay. Here we go, I'll just blurt it out to her. Blurt it out. That's all I have to do.
Oh gosh, what am I thinking? I can't just tell her I have guns hidden under my bed in a case!
She's gonna think I'm crazy.
Wait, what the hell am I blabbering about? She's a therapist for Christ's sake!
"Penny, please don't freak out." I said quietly, wringing my fingers together.
Penny nodded, "I won't. I promise."
I gulped, "I have my father's guns hidden under my bed."
Yup, just blurt it out.

I sort of lied about the update being quick. But school is being an absolute pain in the ass these days and exams are coming up.
This update was like really short. I'm so sorry, guys. I'll try to make the next chapter longer.
Ughh, I can't promise when the next update is gonna be but I'll TRY to make it at least on the like second week of August or something.
