Going Insane

Girls and Pentacles

                I wrap my gifts for Zeke. “He’s so going to love this.” I look over to Maya who is wrapping up some art supplies. I finish signing my card and attach it to his gift and stand up. “You ready to go Maya?” she nods her head and stands up.

                We get to the rec. room and Zeke walking around all happy and talking to people and then he see’s us. “KYLIE!!! MAYA!!!! YAY!!! OH! GIFTS!!!! YAY!!!! What did you get me? Can I open my gifts? PLEASE????” He hugs us both and takes his gifts over to a table with all the other ones.

                “Silly boy! You can’t open your gifts till after you have cake!” Maya messes up his hair.

                “But MAYA!!! I’ve been so patiently waiting for like the past fifteen minutes. How much longer do I have to wait? Waiting is hard!” He stomps his foot on the ground and we start giggling. Then out of nowhere, Anthony appears and hugs Maya from behind and kisses her cheek.

                “Why doesn’t people kiss me? I mean come on I’m the birthday boy!” Just then this girl who looks about a grade or two younger than us walks up behind him, turns him around and kisses him on the lips. I feel a hint of jealousy coming on. “Maria! You kissed me…on the lips….” Zeke blushes a bright red. She nods her head.

                “Yeah…I’ve wanted to do that a long time ago, but I was too scared.” She blushes too. I don’t like this. Okay so maybe I have a little crush on Zeke, no big deal. “I was wondering if maybe, you wanted to be my boyfriend.” Okay, a big crush….

                “I’m going to get something to drink!” I walk away before I can here Zeke respond and I see that Maya and Anthony followed me when I turn around after getting some lemonade. “Ok…Why’d you fallow me?” I look at them weird.

                “You like Zeke! Don’t worry, I doubt he’ll say yes to her, especially since when you’re not around, he can’t shut up about you. He’s about drove me insane with all of his nonstop talking.” Maya smiles at me and grabs her and Anthony a glass of Hawaiian Punch while Anthony nods.

                “Okay well, still he’s liked this girls since he was in elementary school. I’m sure he still likes her and plenty more then he likes me.” She rolls her eyes before pulling me over to the radio that no one has touched yet and looks through the CD’s before putting one in the player and pressing play. What comes on kinda surprises me.

                “What kind of mental hospital has a Pierce the Veil CD? That’s just a little weird…” Playing through the speakers is Besitos. “How is this age appropriate music for mental patients? Let alone one like Zeke. Whatever, that’s just weird…” They laugh at me and Zeke walks back over to us.

                “I LOVE this band! Anyways they have dinner ready! I’m hungry so let’s go get food!” He grabs me by the arm and pulls me to the table with food on it. He grabs a plate and puts a hamburger and hot dog bun on his plate. I do the same and we fix our plates. He grabs like twice as many chips as me though. He pulls me over to the corner of the room and sits down on the floor with his back propped against the wall. I sit down next to him on the other wall and watch as Maya and Anthony make their way over to us with their food.

                “I told her no.” we all look at him weird. “Maria. I told her know. I said there was a girl that I was already kind of interested in and that it’s only right for the guy to ask the girl.” We still look at him weird. Wow! He really is starting to grow up, I guess he really does want to get out of here by graduation.
