Finally, after what seemed like a lifetime, we pulled into a small sleepy looking town in what I assumed was Nebraska. We pulled up in front of a motel, Logan paid for one night’s stay in a one bed room.  It had started to rain by the time we finally got inside. The room wasn’t fantastic, but it wasn’t terrible either. The bed was king size and there was a TV, the bathroom had a tub and shower, so I was happy.

“I’m going to shower” I said, still not bothering to look at Logan, as far as I concerned, he was just my body guard now because apparently I was just a princess to him.

I locked the door to the bathroom and turned the water on, when the spray was hot enough for me I quickly undressed and stepped into it. I sighed, a shower had never felt so good. All the make-up and dirt that I had accumulated on myself in the past 24 hours was washed away. I picked up the little bottle of hotel shampoo and squeezed some into my palm, it had a minty smell to it and made my scalp tingle with pleasure when I washed my hair with it. Next I scrubbed my face with the white cloth that was supplied for me then conditioned my hair with minty smelling conditioner. I had never felt so clean in my life. By the time I was done my shower I was far to hot to put all of my clothes on, so I stuck with the jeans and bra for now. I opened up the bathroom door, a wave of steam swirled around me, Logan looked up from where he was lying on the bed, watching TV.

“Your turn” I said, brushing my hair out with the small brush that I had purchased from the gas station earlier that day.

Logan stood up, he had dark circles under his eyes and looked like he could fall asleep at any second. But as he took in my appearance his eyes widened slightly. I didn’t pay much attention to this, I was already crawling into the big bed.

I was almost asleep when Logan came back out of the bathroom. Once again he was shirtless, it was like we were playing a game of who had a better body, he obviously won.  All the blood that I had missed before was washed off now, his tan skin was perfectly unblemished, I couldn’t even see the scar that I knew was on his shoulder.

“Is it alright with you if I lay down to?” He asked “Im about to drop dead”

Why don’t you? I thought

“Sure” I said “Just stick to your side”

Logan nodded and crawled into the bed beside me. I closed my eyes and waited for sleep to overtake me

“Amber?” Logan said

I opened my eyes, irritated as hell

“About what you asked me last night” He said “No it wasn’t just to protect you, I kissed you because I wanted to”

He didn’t say anything after that, I didn’t know what to say, I didn’t know what to make of that. Soon Logan’s breathing slowed though and I knew he was asleep, I would worry about it in the morning, but right then, sleep was pulling me under as well.

Later that night I was woken up by a loud crash, I bolted upright and screamed, afraid that it was one of the people after me. Someone grabbed my hand, I reached out to smack them.

“Amber it’s me” Logan said “It’s okay, it’s just the thunder”

My eyes adjusted to the darkness, Logan was right next to me. Somehow in our sleep we had moved closer together, I could feel our legs touching. I could hear the rain pouring outside, there was a big flash of lighting followed by another loud crack of thunder.

“I don’t like the thunder” I said “It’s to loud”

“I know” Logan said, rubbing my bare arm “You never liked it much when we were little either”
