Soulmates: An Ezria Fanfic

Chapter 1

Aria hears the clapping as her name is called. It's graduation day, and she's walking up to the love of her life. Ezra Fitz. She's replayed this moment millions of times in her head, the way you would in a movie. She wanted to run up to him and jump in his arms, kissing him and telling him how much she loves him. She couldn't do this, of course, because everyone she's ever known was in the crowd, including her current boyfriend Jake. He definitely wasn't any Ezra, but he made her feel safe. She thought of all of this in just taking a few steps toward the stage. When she got up the steps, all of her teachers and her principal were waiting for her. She shook their hands, and as she came to Ezra he gave her the look he always used to give her, before their relationship turned for the worse. She held his hand tightly as they shook, and she continued walking. After the ceremony, she walked back to her parents and Jake into the courtyard. He gave her a quick kiss on the cheek, and told her he was proud of her. Right then she knew she couldn't live like this with him anymore.
"We need to talk." Aria explained. They walked over to the little bench in the courtyard and sat down.
"What's up? Is something wrong?" Jake asked.
"Yeah. I can't do this anymore."
"What do you mean? Like, us?"
"Yeah. It's over, Jake."
"It's not because of Ezra, is it? I saw that look he gave you when you walked up to him on stage." She wondered about how he saw that, too. Maybe Ezra wasn't over her like she thought. She had to find him.
