Chapter 5: History

We followed Ashley through a small hall and into a room with a large table with chairs all around it.

"Why did you bring us here?" I asked.

"You two came from a small village of people called the Yondites that was attacked, didn't you?" She said without answering my question.

This caught me off guard. I had no idea how she could know this.

"How did you know?' I asked suspiciously.

"I know because it was the same for everyone here," She replied. "Your entire life up until your village was attacked has been a lie."

"What do you mean it was a lie?"

"The village you lived in wasn't built by Yondites, it was built by The Overmasters, an organization which is the equivalent to the government around here."

"The government?"

"Sorry, I forget you don't know what a government is. Let's just say, they conquered the entire world."

"How did they do that?"

"You might as well sit down. This is a long story."

Me and Addison walked to two of the chairs and sat down.

"The Yondites were never meant to settle down in some small village," Ashley began. "But, a long time ago, one man became jealous of our power. I don't know exactly how he did it, but somehow, he managed to start the organization we now know as, The Overmasters. The Overmasters captured and killed many Yondites. Eventually, they were able to confine every Yondite in little villages. The Yondites eventually forgot all about modern technology and settled with a simple life in a village."

"Why, keep The Yondites alive?" I asked.

"Because they were useful. You see, the men would occasionally run into trouble with what they call a supernatural class. They figured they could watch the villages and wait for any of the supernatural classes to be born. After that, they would storm the village and take the supernatural class."

"What are the supernatural classes?"

"It's what you and I are. You see, There are two classes of Yondites, the normal class and the supernatural class. The normal class consists of the people born with increased natural abilities, such as: Increased strength, speed, or athletic ability. The supernatural class currently consists of only eight categories: Body, Mind, Sight, Weight, Sound, Age, Blood, and finally, Soul. Each category is capable of incredible feats."

"Such as?"

"Well, the Body category is a much more advanced version of the Yondites with increased physical ability. They can manipulate their muscles and bones at will, making them the strongest people in the world. The mind category is capable of moving objects with their minds and casting illusions. The Sight category can see things in slow motion as well as having telescopic and microscopic vision, but their best attribute is being able to move their vision without moving their bodies. The Weight category can manipulate the weight of the things around them. The Sound category can manipulate the volume of any sound as well move it. They also have super hearing. The Age category is the most complicated."

"How so?"

"Well, we don't really know anything in this world that is completely ageless. The Age category can make something completely ageless. When something is completely ageless, it stops. They basically stop time. They can also alter the age of the things around them, so if you had glass, they could turn it back into sand. They can also change their physical age. When they do this, they look and feel older or younger, but they still age normally, so they can't become immortal. After the Age category is the Blood category. You've seen it in action, Jericho is part of the Blood category. They can manipulate their blood and shape it into anything. They can also harden it to a point where it's as hard as steel. After using it, they can put it back into their body, to make sure they don't bleed out. They also have one ability that I have forbidden Jericho from using."
