It had been almost a year since Harry and I had almost crumbled. In that year we'd faced more hurdles and roadblocks than I thought possible. But we always seemed to sail right through them. I think since we'd seen how far things could go and how far we could push each other, neither of us felt the need to test that line ever again. So we made promises to each other and we kept those promises.
Promise #1 - We never went to bed angry. The bed was where we reconnected. It was not a place for resentment or animosity.
Promise #2 - When Harry was away, he had a specific phone that was just for us that was on him at all times. Even when he was onstage.
Promise #3 - We had a date night, once a week even when he was gone. When he was home, Niall graciously took Lucy for her princess sleepovers and Harry and I were free to just focus on each other. When he was away we stayed on Skype for hours, sometimes teasing each other with various body parts, sometimes laughing about nonsense that only we found funny.
Promise #4 - The most important one. We were a team. We approached every situation with this in mind. No one else's opinions mattered more than each others. Because if there was one thing that had been proven it was that we were much stronger together than we were apart.
Thankfully the tour was almost over and he would be headed home. After a non-stop grueling work schedule that had filled the Boys lives since they were teenagers, a well-deserved, long overdue break was on the horizon. Three more shows and that was that. Just in time for Lucy to start primary school.
"Where's Lucy?" He asked, his smile bright through the screen on my phone. I glanced around and then shrugged,
"Must have taken the car to get something."
He shook his head,
"That's...so not...funny."
I smiled,
"She's in her room, playing with a new toy that mysteriously showed up on our doorstep the other day."
"Hm...wonder who could have given her that."
"I have my suspicions." I said, eyeing him through the phone.
His mouth dropped open in mock astonishment,
"Now, what good is all this money if I can't buy a few things for the most perfect little girl to ever walk the earth?"
I shrugged,
"Maybe a college education fund instead?"
He snorted,
"Please, there's enough money in that fund to send her to college 10 times over."
I laughed as I leaned against the counter top in the kitchen and set my chin in my hand,
"God, I miss you."
He nodded,
"The feeling is definitely mutual. I grabbed Niall in a movie yesterday and I don't think he's fully forgiven me yet."
My mouth dropped open,
"Harry Styles!"
His face lit up as he laughed,
"I'm kidding. I did grab him but it was during a scary part. He deserved it. It was his damn suggestion." He shrugged, his voice lowering, "Can't wait to get inside you, Baby."
I smirked,
"I'm hardly competition for Niall."
"Please...he wishes he had your legs." He took a breath, "You gonna marry me or what?"
