I look up into his brown eyes that captivated me no longer than 10 minutes ago, his light brown brushing the side of his face ever so slightly that it's in need of a cut, and his chest wide and strong, which compliments his biceps and abs. My eyes don't dare travel farther, knowing I shouldn't look there.
"Yes, I'm a faerie." My voice is now a whisper.
"Oh no oh no oh no.." He trails off pacing back and forth, I can't help but find his panic adorable, but I shake the thought knowing this is a serious matter.
"But that means we can't-we have to-"
"Reject it." I cut him off and I look down fiddling with my fingers, the words cut through my heart even though I've only just met him, and I'm unknowing of his name.
"Fuck." He whispers under his breath and I look up to see him looking at me his eyes filled with sadness. I've never been too close with a werewolf, much less had a conversation with them. But, I've heard they take mates very seriously and they hold much dear to them. I thought it was a rumour and they'd be more hard headed than that, but I guess I was wrong to judge.
"Why'd it have to be you?" He says rubbing his hands on his face, "Not like that, I just mean why must you be so perfect but you aren't my kind?"
He rambles on but I only hear one thing, perfect. I smile at him and he freezes his rambling to look at my face, "Don't do that."
"Do what?" My smile falters slightly and worry fills my eyes.
"Smile," he smiles a small smile at me his teeth perfect except one tooth that is raises slightly higher on the top row, "it'll make this hurt more."
I smile back and I look around before I whisper, "I mean, we don't have to now, do we?"
He shakes his head like a little kid and he chuckles, "I guess not." I smile up at him as he smiles down at me.
We stare for a minute before he scratches the back of his neck, "I'm Brodie by the way." He stands up straighter and flashes me a dazzling smile. I giggle and look down before meeting his gaze again, my cheeks becoming pink for the first time in a while.
"And I am Faye." I tilt my head to the side before smiling up at him similar how he did to me.
"It's wonderful-" before Brodie can finish, his eyes glaze over and I start to panic before I grab his upper arms and shake, "Brodie?"
He snaps back to me as soon as we touch and I jump back a bit as the sparks go up my arms for a while, "What happened?"
I look up at him and see his regular eyes once again, "The mind link." He smirks down at me and winks, "No need to get scared babe, I'm not that special." I roll my eyes before sticking out my tongue, "Whatever."
He smiles and looks away before meeting my gaze again, "As much as I'd hate to ruin this moment, I must because my alpha has called for me," he points to where the exit of our forest is, towards the territory of werewolves, and I nod my mind becoming filled with sad thoughts.
"But don't worry, we can see each other again. Meet me at the neutral pond tomorrow 6 am, nobody is near."
I nod as he backs away shifting into his wolf and he runs off as I wave with a smile. What am I doing?

"Are you crazy?" Arynna shouts in my ear as we lay on the bed tangled in the woven cotton blanket. "You can't see him again! It's against the rules." She whispers the last sentence since I shoved her for being loud, anybody could be over hearing, but it also may be me over thinking.
"Listen, Faye, I know that most rules are stupid, but this one is just crazy deadly," she looks me in the eyes hers filled with worry, "the vampires would kill you with a fly bat!"
"You mean a fly swatter?"
"Same thing!" She screeches and I flinch back as she rambles on about how I can't see Brodie again. After she ranted on about how amazing Evawn is, I told her about my mate. I knew it would be a risk since the vampires have claimed you can't mate with other kinds.
Some have tried in the past but were brutally murdered, so from now on they've started if the time comes you must reject the bond. But I couldn't do it. He was so perfect standing there, and he was perfect because he was imperfect.
"I can't do it, you have no idea how amazing he is." I smile and close my eyes and open to see Arynna glaring at me.
"It's been one day, not even."
"Oh and excuse me, how long did you know Evawn?" She rolls her eyes at my sass and I know I've won.
"Just, don't go alone because I know you'll do it anyways. I'll come with you." She sighs and I smile hugging her tightly. "Thank you."
"Yeah yeah, now get to sleep I gotta wake up early apparently." She slaps my face gently and I giggle before rolling to my side of the bed and fall asleep to the soft whisper of the winds.
