I look down at Faye as I hold her much smaller hand in mine, and I take in every wisp of hair that rebels from the rest, and the way her cheeks indent when she smiles. As I look at her all over, I can't decide what's more captivating.

My wolf purrs, agreeing with me. He is smart, and like me knows much well the dangers of being with Faye. But, us werewolves treat our mates with loyalty and respect. I've never heard of a werewolf mixing with another kind, but I'm going to assume if there was they fought just the same as I will.

Arynna stands off to the side, and I worry if Faye will tell any of her other friends, scared that we will get caught.

"You didn't tell anybody else?" I bite my lip and pull her hand gently so she is sitting beside me on a close by boulder.

"No, I have no one else anyways." She looks off onto the lake before immediately drawing her attention back to me, "That's just the way us faeries are usually, we aren't as united like you werewolves."

I nod my head, knowing full well that we are the most together kind. Vampires aren't much close behind, but they tend to separate into smaller clans.

Mermaids tend to stay within an area, and much less as a 'together'.

I look up to see the sun rising just above the trees, and I sigh, "Looks like it's going to start getting more crowded." I watch as Faye looks down and her fingers caress mine still, stroking in soft rhythms that I can't determine.

"It's going to be quite hard getting to know each other when we can only meet at certain times, in certain places."

I nod, my wolf growls in my head softly, aggravated that we have limited times with our mate. I'm going to slaughter those vampires.

"You won't have much time to get to know each other at all if you don't let go now." I turn to Arynna who's suddenly behind us, she shifts into her faerie form before pointing across the waters. I turn to see a vampire clan walking the perimeter. Before I can let go of her hand, Faye shifts to faerie. She flies behind me and I'm able to keep her scent and I know she isn't too far from me.

"You gentleman out for a stroll?" I smile casually, standing up as they venture closer to me, their icy complexions make it hard to believe they won't melt under the warmth of the sun.

"Why are you here alone?" They dodge my question, and with hands behind their backs I examine their tall and slender frames. One has hair blonde like Faye's, and eyes match hers. I double take as I see one eye is blue and one brown, but within the brown eye is a blue speck. I shake the image of Faye's eyes out of my head before replying.

"Uh, I was just enjoying the view."

The view of our mate.

The man standing beside the blonde one squints his red eyes, and I get caught in them as they tantalize me. His hair a dark brown, almost black shade.

"Why would a fine beta like yourself come here to do such a petty thing?" He spits out beta like its venom and I look at him with question, "Or an alpha?" His voice raises in question.

"No, just beta." I nod and stretch out a fake smile, as his circles me like he is going to size me up.

"I knew I could sense that power off of you, but what is your true business here?" The blonde one watches, he clearly is learning off of the red eyed man, since he looks essentially younger.

"I was-"

"He was doing business with me!"

I whip my head around to see Faye in her human form, and she raises her hand shyly before walking to my side.

Get mate away..

Cody growls sensing danger within the vampires.

"Oh, a young faerie." The red eyed man smirks in delight before eyeing her up, and it takes all of my energy to hold in the urge to growl.

Hey, at least let me scratch his eyes out.

I chuckle in my head, before switching my gaze to the blonde vampire who seems to be looks at Faye with curiosity.

"My name is Spence, and this is my guard in training, Damien." He touches Faye's shoulder and she flinches back from his touch.

"Don't be afraid darling, you're strong you must know." Spence leans in and looks into her blue and brown eyes.

"You do see this Damien?"

Damien comes closer before looking at her eyes, and his widen and they mirror Faye's. "They're similar to mine."

"Yes, and you do know what that means?" Spence smile deviously over his shoulder and Damien gulps.

"You darling, need to come with me." He holds her upper arm before tugging her lightly.

"But why? My eyes are imperfect, they're weak with the faeries so why would the pay interest you?"

Her soft voice sounds calm and collected and my wolf smiles with pride how his mate is strong.

"Like I said Spence," I hold onto Faye's other shoulder and let her warmth flood into my hand, "we were talking business."

Spence flicks his hair away from his eyes before taking his hand off her arm, "Very well then, Damien and I were just doing a perimeter check, so in about an hour we will be back to collect her here?"

He stalks off with Damien, who still keeps taking glances over his shoulder at Faye.

I growl once they're out of ear shot, "She isn't an object to collect."

Faye turns to me just as Arynna pops out, "Oh my goodness, why do they need you? Faye what's happening? Did they find out?" She holds onto Faye tightly and Faye stands there her eyes never leaving mine.

"What do I do?" She mumbles.

"Well it would be pointless to run, because they'd come to get you anyways." I rub my thumb alone her shoulder blade.

She nods and Arynna lets her go, "I'm going to go back and try to contact the King or Queen, see if they know any information on vampires and faeries."

"That's smart." I nod as she smiles and gives Faye a sympathetic look before flying off.
