"What do you mean my rentee hasn't paid the rent?!"

"I'm sorry Brielle, but it's the truth, even if you kick him out, you still have to pay the electric and water bills and such since you're technically just renting your house," The leasing agent, Debbie, explained.

Brielle sighed as she rubbed the bridge of her nose, "Okay, tell him he has four days to move out. I will give you a check, but it might take a while," She replied.

"Okay. Would you still like to rent the extra room?" Debbie asked.

Splish Splash

"Of course, we still have a month or so before the term starts, just make sure that the person has a reputable credit and actually pays rent on time. Don't even bother with the warnings if they miss rent."

"Gotcha. Enjoy your time back at home! Tell your parents I said hi!"

"Will do! Thanks. Bye."

Brielle groaned as she dropped her phone back to her water proof bag and let it float from her arm. Great. Now she actually has to swim back to shore and pay whatever amount that stupid guy forgot to pay.

"Brielle! What are you doing?" A shout could be heard.

Brielle whipped her head and caught eye of one of her sisters. An opal auburn fin reflecting brightly against the sun.

"Stella! I should be asking you that! I live here silly," Brielle laughed as she swam toward the other female, with her own opal lavender fin glinting against the light.

"I was just checking out the place! I heard there were some hot land-dwellers here compared to back at home," Stella winked as she began brushing her shocking light blue hair.

"You don't need to come here! The land-city near us still has some pretty attractive guys," Brielle replied as she reached for a lock of her hair.

Stella rolled her eyes, "Puh-lease, the guys are attractive but we have been around them since we were kids. Too late to seduce them now with our singing, they probably think we were just showing off from our high school chorus competition. Gotta show new people our talents."

"Sure..."

Stella puffed out her chest in frustration, "Dad wants us to find a boyfriend by now! He thinks if we don't, we will be single forever," She whined.

Now it was Brielle's turn to roll her eyes, "Is he still going with the tradition to marry a human boy to unify human and merfolk relations? That was long time ago. Now we are just avoiding the accidental discovery of our true selves by scientists. Our ancestors were thought to be just a fairy tale now after that one Hans guy wrote that story and then it became a movie."

"Beats me why he's so persistent in us getting a boyfriend. Like honestly, I thought mom would be the one giving that talk. Plus does he know how hard it is to even try to find a decent guy these days?! Hard! Every guy either wants to hook up or is taken! And I sure don't want a hookup!" Stella whined as she furiously flapped her fin up and down on the surface, splashing Brielle in the face.

"Hey! Careful! I just dyed my hair and I am not ready for it to fade that fast!" Brielle warned as she prayed none of the lavender dye bled to her skin.

"Sorry," Stella apologized sheepishly as she calmed down. "How was your first year of college and summer so far?" She asked.

Brielle shrugged, "Could've been better. Calculus kicked my butt; it was not as easy as high school. Summer's not going well at the moment either." She muttered as she fiddle with her nails.
