Hehehe another chapter! Hope you like it, Enjoy!
Chapter 30
Date: April 8th
Time: 3:27 a.m.
Location: Apartment suite in Miami, Florida
So much can happen in a few days. The whole Lyla and Matt incident was covered up completely, not even the news caught wind of it which hopefully meant that Lockstar didn’t either. We ended up coming down to Florida to have some relaxing time which Valentin hated, he wanted to get everything done right away.
Ah Valentin, we didn’t glare at each other when we glanced at each other but it doesn’t mean we were buddy buddy. I still didn’t care for him and I was pretty sure he still saw me as the brat who ruined his career in the Lamour because he had to join us to save his neck.
We still didn’t know anything about him though. Valentin Wallace Lucien was still an image, a front, a very good one at that. We knew nothing except that he is an assassin, natural brown hair, green eyes, is 23 years old, and worked for the Lamour. If anyone asked us anything else about him we couldn’t give you a truthful answer. He was very recluse which Iris found annoying and generally stuck to following the law unless he had a target to deal with.
He had a cut throat attitude and was more comfortable with glaring at a person then smiling, which none of us had yet to see him do. He was very well built and had a tattoo of a snake that wrapped up his right arm and stopped just as the base of his neck. Valentin generally wore t-shirts that covered them up and wore his leather jacket almost everywhere until he had to shed it due to the warmer climate we were now in.
Tomorrow, or I guess I should say today, we are locking down and getting to work, serious work, on taking down Lockstar. This running had to stop and we needed a solid plan instead of running in blind like Matt wanted to do.
I sighed and turned over in my bed and looked at the glaring clock by me. The red numbers said 3:27 a.m. and the date was April 8th, my mouth pulled in a frown. I turn away from the clock and shut my eyes wishing for sleep but memories came instead.
Flashback:
“Mom!” I called out in the large house dropping my bag by the front door. “Dad!” Where are they?
I go to the kitchen that we hardly used to see if they making some last minute calls or finishing up their last pieces of work. Today they promised that they would be all mine after 4:00 p.m., they have to be here somewhere.
The expensive designer kitchen was empty, the marble counters didn’t have a speck of dust on them and I checked my watch, 3:51 p.m. They probably just got stuck in traffic, I reasoned, this is Chicago after all you couldn’t go faster than 10 miles per hour on these roads.
I pull open the doors of our refrigerator that could fit up to three whole turkeys but was often bare of food. I wonder why we even have something like this when a cook would love it. I grab a honey crisp apple biting into it going for my phone.
“Ms. Carter.” A voice said and I gasp in shock and choke on the piece of apple I was eating. After a few coughs it went down and I composed myself.
“Nancy.” I say nicely to the woman in front of me. She was my parent’s maid of ten years and was here more than them. Her brown hair was pulled in a tight bun and her jacket was folded in her arms with a note in her hand.
“You’re parents told me to give you this.” She hands me the card. “I must take my leave, is that alright with you?”
“Yes Nancy, I’ll see you tomorrow, bye.” I open the envelope which contained the note.
