"I honestly can't believe that you're the one who ended up with Isaiah." Halley exclaimed.

She was seated on a stool at the counter in Coffee Bean, stirring her mocha, and her chin on one hand

She was seated on a stool at the counter in Coffee Bean, stirring her mocha, and her chin on one hand.

"I honestly can't believe it either." I was on the other side of the counter, serving her.

"Like what do you have that I don't? " she stared at my profile in wonder

I didn't feel comfortable being inspected like that but I tried not to let it show. "I have no idea." I mumbled, looking down at my body.

"Like you're flat as a pancake, scrawny as a stick, and not a curve on your body except for your knobby knees and elbows

I glared at her. "Thanks, Halley." Then I grabbed the coffee pot and a mug and started pouring myself some coffee.

She stopped laughing almost immediately and dropped her hands in her lap. "I was joking, you know."

"I'm sure you were." I said sarcastically. I put in two spoons of sugar and stirred it. Then I took a sip.

She was silent for a moment before she asked, "How was the sex."

I almost spit out my coffee and I set down my mug. I covered my mouth with the back of my hand and cleared my throat. "Um, not that it's any of your business but we only did it once."

She slammed both of her hands on the counter, causing a few people in the coffee shop to turn and glare at her. She, being Halley, didn't give two fucks. "You only had sex once?" she exclaimed.

"Yes." I mumbled.

"May I ask why?"

"We just want to take it slow, I guess." I replied and started drinking my coffee again, pretending not to be embarassed by the fact that every pair of eyes in the coffee shop was staring straight at me.

Halley still didn't notice or if she had, she clearly didn't care. "Wow," she snorted, "Isaiah, the mayor of all man whores wants to take it slow." She genuinely seemed surprised.

I rolled my eyes. "Yes. Wow, imagine that. Is it a problem?" I asked.

She put up her hands in surrender. "No, absolutely not. It's just really surprising is all. This must be serious."

I shrugged. "I guess."

"Jessa, you have that guy tied down for once." She exclaimed. "This is big!"

I laughed. "Well, yeah I guess so."

"But you have to do it more

"But you have to do it more. I remember kissing Isaiah, and I really regret not going farther."

I glared at her and cleared my throat, warning her.

She widened her eyes. "But I'm glad I didn't. " she smiled.

I looked away from her and finished up my coffee before setting it aside and starting to wash the counter.

"Are you guys together now?" Halley asked.

I stopped momentarily and stared down at the cloth in my hand. "I actually don't know what we are."

"Well, you should probably talk about it. Soon." Halley stood up and straightened her black pencil skirt. "But anyways I have to go. I have that date with that guy I bummed the rum off of."

I chuckled. "Have fun. Make sure you use condoms."

She rolled her eyse at me and then handed me some money. "Keep the change."

"Um, okay." I felt odd taking money from her but I still took it.

"See you later." She waved at me and walked out.
