The First Floor
December

A month has gone by and we are just now holding a meeting about the first floor boss. I had heard a rumor that a party of people had located it but didn't believe it until now.

"Alright, I'll need everyone to form parties of six"

I nearly choked. Six?!

I looked at Kirito who seemed panicked. Everyone had already made friends and had groups while we were just two people. I noticed someone to the left of him and pointed at her.

"Go recruit master! Away with you!" I laughed pushing him towards the girl. She had a cloak covering her face and talked low so nobody could hear her. Eventually I noticed a third name pop up under ours. Asuna. Huh.

Suddenly there was a commotion coming from some short guy complaining about beta testers.

"We should make them get on their knees and apologize. Then take all their money and items. They've just abandoned us!"

I laughed and the attention was on me. Oops.

"What's so funny. Could it be that you're one of them?!"

I stood up and made my way down to the makeshift stage.

"Matter of fact. I am. The names Reina. And I have one statement to add to your demands" I smirked getting in his face.

"This world isn't run for the good of communism. It's every man for themselves if you want to survive. Darwinism at it's best. Maybe you haven't figured that out because your head was so far up your rear" I spat.

"Can I say something?" I recognized his voice. Agil. The one from the blacksmith roof a month ago.

"You received this guidebook too didn't you. It was free at the item shop after all?"

The midget named Kibau stuttered. "Well, yeah"

"It was the ex-beta testers who were distributing these."

I smirked and made my way back to the stands deciding it was best to sit alone and not get Kirito involved.

The next day we arrived at the boss dungeon. It was dimly lit with torches all the way up to the door.

"I only have one thing to say before we go in. Let's win!"

With that the doors were pushed open and everyone filed inside the chamber.

Illfang the Kobold Lord, and three Ruin Kobold Sentinels. This should be fun.

I was in the rear guard with Kirito and Asuna. Our objective was to distract the sentinels as long as we could while everyone else attacked the boss. Chop liver. I love being the left overs.

I drew my sword and noticed how large Illfang was. I could've sworn he was smaller in the beta. As the vanguard took off I received a dirty glare from Kibau.

The sentinels were dealt with, but something was off. As Illfang switched weapons he didn't take out a Talwar, but a No-Dochi.

"Stop!"

"Run away as fast as you can!"

We warned him but Diabel charged the boss, and paid for it with his life. Kirito ran to him with a health potion alongside Asuna.

"Reina distract him!"

Aye aye captain.

I drew my sword and smirked at the beast.

"Come and catch me if you can ya ugly!" I sang jumping off walls every which way whilst piercing him with my sword whenever there was an opening. His health was slowly diminishing.

"Try to keep his attention off us!" Kirito yelled. He was charging with Asuna switching as if they had planned it gracefully.

And you said you were a solo player.

I charged attacks every so often in front of the boss's eyes to gain his priority while the two down there attacked.

"You're running out of time!" I yelled to Kirito. Illfang was more focused on them instead. As I looked down Kirito was crashing against Asuna with his hp guage shrinking.

Don't you dare die on me!

I charged one of my ultimate attacks I programmed into the game.

"Lion's Fang!" I yelled holding my sword and a projection of another in my other hand. Slicing with both blades at once I managed to lower his health with the aid of Agil and the others.

"Switch!" That's what I like to hear.

Asuna fell back as Kirito and I lunged at the boss with all our might carving into its body.
