Chapter 9-
When I wake I feel weighed down. I had worn my chariot outfit to bed. Its all wrinkled and messed up. I tear it off and drop it on the floor. Sorry Cumin.
I drag myself to the bathroom and take a shower. Not knowing what to press first, I pressed a random button that sent soap into my mouth and sprayed me with cold water. That woke me up. I washed the soap out of my mouth, turned off that setting and read the labels. After looking at each one, I picked a simple wash that cleaned my hair and body. When done, I turned off the shower and stepped on the automatic dryer. While doing this I pressed my hand to a hair-brusher and a brush came out to take the knots away. I was liking it here. Except for the fact I would be in the arena in a couple days.
I crawl my way into my room and throw myself on the bed. I'm really sore from wearing the costume and don't feel like doing anything including moving. I notice a black jumpsuit with gray and red stripes on the elbow length sleeves. It has the number 12 on the right sleeve. Looks pretty comfortable. But odd. Why was I going to need a jumpsuit? I put it on anyway.
When I slug out to breakfast, everyone is already there, again. I sit and ask,
"Whats the jumpsuit for?"
"Training. Today is the first day." My mother replies. I grunt, frustrated.
"Whats with you?" Haymitch uncaringly asks.
"Do you really care?" I ask.
"No." He plainly says.
"Whats up?" My mom questions. I sigh.
"I wore my chariot outfit to bed." Clyde sighs also and mutters something about kids not respecting hard work. Then he walks to my room.
"That explains everything." She says. I weakly nod.
"But that'll help, right? With the innocent part your trying to portray." Galen questions.
"Yes, yes. Good point. Since shes sore, she will look like she has less strength, making her ignored." My mom states. Galen smiles, satisfied with himself.
"Or like an easy target." I mutter.
"No, they will think of you as someone to deal with later." My mother says. Then Effie walks in, older and more Capitol like than ever.
"Well, we've got a big, big day ahead of us! And it all starts with training! Which, we will be late for if we don't leave now." Effie strains. Galen and I both get the hint and jump out of the seats. I kiss my mom on the cheek and run off with Effie.
"Now, you stay away from the careers Prim." My mom shouts as the elevators close. We all stand there. I look at the ceiling. Finally, we reach the training center. I go to run out, but instead am held back by Effie.
"Walk." She says. Galen has already gone in. I follow slowly. All the other tributes are already here. I stand shyly in the back. Finnick makes his way to me.
"Now that everyones here, we can start. The rules, no fighting. You'll have plenty of time for that in the arena. You can go to whichever station you wish, go." The main trainer says. Everyone runs to something. I stand and look at Finnick.
"You wanna go to the trident station? Maybe I can teach you something." He says. I smile. This is the perfect time to show some weakness.
"Sure!" We walk to the station, where several tributes already are. They take note of Finnick, but ignore me. Finnick grabs two tridents and gives me one.
