                                               Day two

Zaffira woke up at about 5:00am. She didn't really get much sleep; she kept having nightmares about her mother and that disgusting Wade guy.

It was terrible.

Zaffira decided that today they go find her uncle Frederick and maybe he might know about the crystal.

Zaffira made pitch black coffee and woke Aiden up. He wasn't too thrilled and really wanted more sleep.

"We don't have any time Aiden. We cannot lose today too. We weren't any close to finding it yesterday and I won't have that happen today too" Zaffira says and Aiden is up on his feet and with a deposable cup of coffee in no time.

"Where do we go today?" Aiden questions as they make their way to the car.

"We're going to the Payne family house" she simply says pulling out the map from her bag.

"We haven't been there since we were like seven" Aiden points out as they drive off the driveway.

"Yeah, well, we're going there today" she says and punches the directions into the GPS in the car.

In no time the pair is parked in front of a gigantic house that used to belong to her great grandfather when he moved to Mystic Falls.

She had always wondered where they came from before Mystic Falls; she had always wanted to ask her father but never got the chance.

"Coming" answered a female voice as they knocked on the door.

"Hi" the blonde woman smiled.

"May I help you?" she asked.

"I'm looking for my uncle Frederick, I'm his niece; Zaffira" she explained wondering why she wasn't being let into her own family house.

"You're Zaffira" the blonde woman says with such familiarity it startles Zaffira.

"Come in" she moves out of the way letting the two teens slide into the house.

Zaffira took in the luxurious home in front of her. The living room was just as she remembered it.

"I've heard so much about you" the woman said.

"I'm Natalie. Your Uncle's..." she seemed to hesitate for a second.

"She's your uncle's girlfriend" Frederick comes up behind her, his statement making her pale cheeks flush bright red, her blue eyes looking away from the pair.

"Oh" Zaffira attempts a smile.

"What's wrong?" her uncle immediately senses something off.

"I need to talk to you" she says.

They all sit in the living room, except Natalie. She's in the kitchen making snacks, unfortunately no one will eat any... at least Zaffira won't.

She tells him about her mother and the crystal and her deadline.

Frederick is not as surprised as Zaffira thought he would be.

"This is exactly what your father didn't want" he sighed running his fingers through his hair.

"What do you mean" she needs more answers.

"Truth is the crystal won't even work for Wade" Frederick said, this only dug a deeper into her well of questions.

Noticing Zaffira's confused look Frederick decided to elaborate.

"Years ago, almost a hundred years, your great grandfather sealed the crystal with what he called 'blood magic' Only a member of the family can unlock the power of the crystal. So even if you do give it to him, it would be worthless" he explains.
