Dean POV:
It's finally Saturday. Charlie has waited for this moment for over two weeks, ever since Cas said yes. Now, as the guests start strolling in from the trail onto the field, I see her standing on the corner of the stage, looking like a proud mother. It's kind of funny to see. We finally chose a place to hold the party; none other than the infamous field Cas and I finally admitted how we feel about each other in. Our tree house has long since receded into the ground; not gone, just hidden. Kevin practically begged Charlie and Cas to be the DJ, and being that he's one of the only ones without a date, they gladly told him yes. He's ecstatic about it, and actually isn't terribly bad at it. He has good taste; lots of Panic! at the Disco, Twenty One Pilots, and even some Of Monsters And Men. He also looks like he's rocking out up there.
It's nearly five forty, and I glance at the slowly dimming sky. It's getting dark already? That's pretty early for a mid-May night. The strings of lights that Charlie draped in the trees and over the tables like canopy's makes everything feel so magical. But my heart slightly sputters with sadness. I still can't find Cas. "Hey, Charlie?" I ask as I watch her eyes follow the people flowing in from the trail. "Weren't you supposed to pick up your date at five thirty?" I ask. She nods mindlessly, marveling at her creation. I smirk. "It's five forty two."
You can practically hear the record scratch as she analyzes the words I just said. "WHAT??!?!" She screams, grabbing my wrist to read my watch. Of course, it confirms my statement. "Ohshitohshitohsit she's gonna hattteeeee meeeeeee!" She squeals, running her hands nervously through her hair. "And I don't have my car, because I gave it to Garth so he could get the food here safely!" She smacks her forehead. "I'm so massively screwed!"
I shrug. "I could drive you." I offer. She looks at me with simultaneously wide and scared eyes.
"Dean, I don't think you should." She reaches her hand out. "Hows about I just drive to pick her up, and you-" I shove her hand away.
"Hell, no!" I protest. "You think I am just gonna let you take my baby to a different part of the neighborhood, to a stranger's house that I've never even possibly MET?!" I point my finger at her. "No." I reply simply, leading her to my car. She groans, stomping her foot.
"Ugh! Fine." She growls. Sigh. "Fine, let's go." She grabs my arm and basically drags me into the impala.
About five minutes later, we pull into the driveway of a little yellow two story house. I sigh. "You want me to come with, or are you all good?" I ask. She exhales and pats me on the shoulder.
"No, I think I'll be fine. Just, wait here, and... Just wait here." She states, opening the door, leaning through the window once more before closing it. She squeals excitedly, and approaches the door.
Charlie POV
I exhale as I walk up to the door. I have no idea why I'm feeling so nervous. I've known her for four years! I can do this! No reason to be nervous. Yet, I am. My stomach is doing somersaults, and I keep finding myself being self conscious. Weird, why am I being self conscious? I rock it all day er' day! I smile to myself, and knock on the door. A shorter woman with a mess of hair and smeared lipstick opens the door. Her face twists in disgust, and I subconsciously pull on my Katniss inspired daughter of Artemis outfit. "What the fuck are you?" She asks, her words slightly slurred.
"Uh, my name's Charlie, I'm here for Sammie..?" I squeak, peering around her into the house and longingly at the stairs.
She snorts. "No, Charlie's a dude."
I gesture to myself. "Clearly, you're mistaken."
"No, clearly you are. I'm sorry, but my daughter ain't a dyke, ya queer." She crosses her arms. I bite the corners of my mouth and force a smile.
