 ~Rewrite for Preface~

Anne Boleyn had this one moment of luck. Not every queen can give birth to a daughter and live. It was the price she had to pay for bedding the king and taking a place next to his throne.

After finding out she was first pregnant, the queen took leave from the castle, one which was not granted easily. She was afraid and was all alone. After 9 months came the moment of truth. No one knew she was with child, she took a risk seeking asylum- to see if she was fertile to bear a male heir.

"Take her away! Make sure the king does not find out about her!" Anne Boleyn yells.

She was not going to anger King Henry VIII with giving him a daughter, he needed a male heir and she needed the throne.  The solution was a clear one.

A maid carries the crying child out of the cottage as quickly as she can, forever out of the sight of her birth mother.

The child named Catherine Boleyn will  live with her aunt, Mary Howard who is known as the queens sister (and friend of the king). She will never find out about her real family, and never see the throne. At least this is what Anne planned.

It was the first moment of darkness in her life, her first rejection. She was not even aware of it, yet this darkness would fade. It always does.
