I walked into my first-period class and Dominic came over to sit with me. I got my homework out from the night before and when I looked up, I saw Dominic was smiling at me.

"What are you so happy about?"

"It's your birthday, right?"

"Yeah," I answered cautiously, and he pulled out a small bag that was covered in royal blue glitter. "How did you know?"

"I remembered," he said proudly, and I gave him a look. "Okay, fine. Cody reminded me."

"Oh, yeah."

"How did he know?" Dominic asked me and I heard a tone of jealousy in his voice.

"Oh, just a questionnaire thing in our 5th period."

"Well, open it," he urged, but Mrs. Wirt told us to go back to our seats. I opened it quickly while everyone was moving around. There was a lot of wrapping paper for a small bag, but I managed to get through the royal blue cloud of fluff. I pulled out a card first. It was $15 for Starbucks. I put the bag down, but it was still heavy, so I guessed there was still something else in it. I quickly picked it up and pulled out a pearl bracelet and a set of 6 earrings. Mrs. Wirt started talking so I put the bracelet on and stuffed the earrings back in the bag. I felt someone to my right glancing at me so I looked over. It was Dominic and he mouthed, 'Do you like it?' I smiled and nodded at him, and then focused on the teacher.

Apparently, Autumn had the same idea, but more. Much more. I was sitting at our table at lunch when she ran up to me with three balloons and a giant bag attached.

"Happy birthday, Morgan!" She yelled really loudly. I tried to quiet her down, but I totally failed. "Open your present!"

"Only if you sit down and don't yell anymore," I told her but I couldn't help smiling. I always smile whenever I blush which is a total pain when I'm trying to be serious. She sat down and I looked inside the bag. It was full of makeup, jewelry, and more makeup. I pulled out one bottle of foundation.

"Awww, thanks! But why all the makeup? Am I not pretty enough on my own?" I pouted.

"No, no, no! You said-" I burst into laughter. "What?"

"It's the best present ever and I'm not mad. I was joking," I burst into more laughter and so did everyone else.

"Well, you said you've been meaning to get some makeup, so I got it for you! Now we just have to go somewhere so I have an excuse to put it on you."

I hugged her and I heard a collective, 'Awww' from everyone at the table. I pulled away and tripped over someone's backpack. Dominic caught me before I hit the floor and he smugly said, "Saved your life there. Be careful, Autumn. Morgan's fragile." For some reason, I glanced at Cody and he was smiling for once. He hadn't smiled since the first day of school. Maybe he was finally getting over whatever was bugging him.

"Excuse me, I'm not fragile," I complained as we both walked our separate ways.

"We'll see about that," he called after me while Autumn took my hand and led me to our next class.

"Did you like your present?" Cody asked in our Chemistry class.

"Hey, it was awesome." I paused. "You didn't have anything to do with that did you?"

"Yeah. I went shopping with him."

"Is that how he knew what my favorite color was?"

"And that your birthday was today." We both chuckled.

"Well, he didn't tell me that part."

"Whatever. I don't mind Dom taking the credit."

"Well, you deserve credit too, so thank you."

"You're welcome." He smiled again and it kinda made my heart leap. His smile was so beautiful.

Dominic came up to me after school, again with a smile.

"Oh, no," I said and tried to walk away, but he stopped me.

"Hey, hey, hey. I haven't even told you what we're doing tonight," he chuckled.

"We meaning who?"

"We meaning Dominic, Cody, Alex, Ashley and me," Autumn said walking up to us. "We'll have to ask Alex or Ash... or Cody to give us a ride."

"Wait, Cody? He can drive? Does he have a car?" I asked.

"Yeah, he's a spoiled 17-year-old with a brand-new car."

"Do I sense some jealousy here Dom?" He rolled his eyes.

"He's just older than me, That's all. I think his birthday was in July, or maybe June. I don't remember."

"July 16th," I reminded him.

"Okay, so pick us up at 5," Autumn said and pulled me away.

"Where are we going?" I asked her.

"We are going to my house real quick so that I can change into something nicer," she said looking down at herself. "Then, we'll go over to your house and dress you up in your new makeup."

"Oh no was right," I whined and Autumn pouted.

"Come on, please let me dress you up."

"Maybe," I replied dismissively.

"Yay!" she squealed and pulled me along behind her.

"Autumn, I didn't say yes."

"Yeah. But you didn't say no."
