I couldn't sleep. It was literally impossible for me right now. I was just lying in my bed at 2 in the morning staring at my ceiling. So I got up and grabbed a jacket because it was starting to getting a little chilly outside. I grabbed a house key as well just in case my aunt locked me out. I walked down the driveway, across the road, and into the forest.
I just planned to walk around a little then go back to bed. I wasn't in a hurry or anything because I had nothing to do tomorrow so I could sleep in. I walked a good distance into the forest till I almost couldn't see the houses. For being past midnight it was surprisingly light outside. The moon was full and beautiful and lit up my path perfectly. I put my hands into my jacket pockets and just stared up for a while.
After a few minutes, I turned around and started heading back when I heard a low growl that sent chills up my spine. I slowly turned around and saw two bright green, almost neon, orbs floating in the darkness. I squinted, but I couldn't tell what they were. Those orbs stayed still then got bigger and something came closer to me. It was some sort of creature and it was huge. I was about to scream, thinking I would die from another skeleton monster or something of that kind when someone covered my mouth.
"Don't move," a deep voice whispered calmly. "Don't provoke him and might get out of here alive." I tried not to move but I couldn't help it. My adrenaline was running like crazy and my main source of air was blocked so I had a hard time breathing. It tried to attack, but the guy holding me held up something small, like a very small cylinder-shaped rock. It was silver with some sort of thin clear coating over it.
"You know what this is, don't you?" The guy whispered and it growled and backed away. "Leave!" He yelled and I could definitely hear now that it was a guy's voice. He pretended to throw the small object and the thing whined and ran away. The guy let go and turned to look at me and I saw a glimpse of golden blonde hair, pale skin and bright purple eyes but I couldn't tell who it was. "You okay?" He asked and now the voice sounded familiar.
"Who are you?" I asked. I knew the voice, but I couldn't put my finger on it. It's like when you see or hear an actor and you know them from somewhere, but you just can't quite remember.
"It's Alex," he said and my jaw dropped. He pulled me away and out of the forest, but he didn't take me to my house. He took me to his house. We walked through the doorway and he threw me on the couch. He paced in front of me and muttered to himself. Eventually, he made a gesture like he was going to pull all his hair out.
"Okay, what is going on?" I asked shakily, still feeling the adrenaline coursing through me. He didn't answer. He just kept pacing and clutching his head. "Alex?" He stopped, looked at me for a second, then began pacing again. I hit the couch beside me in frustration. "Alex!"
Cody's POV:
"How was it?" Dominic asked. I opened my eyes and I was lying on the floor, leaves spread around me.
"Wow. I feel so much better," the pain I'd felt all month was gone.
"You look better," Dominic said throwing me some clothes. "You don't look so pale. And you're smiling for once," he joked.
"Shut up."
"Get dress. I want to go to sleep."
"Thanks for this."
"Of course. You know, Alex and Cam were really worried about you."
"I know. I think I'll be more careful the next time I let Camden experiment on me."
"Yeah, maybe he'll turn your skin blue."
"Maybe you should test the next one and find out," I said walking up to my house.
