At 4:45pm, someone rang the doorbell. Autumn ran down to answer it and I heard footsteps and commotion at my front door. She brought Ashley up to see me and Autumn finished fixing my hair. Ashley gasped when she saw me.

"You look gorgeous, Morgan."

"Thanks, Ashley."

"Oh, honey. You can call me Ash. Everyone does."

"Come on, birthday girl," Autumn said pulling me out of my bathroom.

"Ready?" Dominic asked and we all went in a single file line out the door where a minivan was waiting for us. Alex sat in the driver's seat of the van with Ash in the passenger seat, which left the rest of us to hop in the back. Cody opened the sliding back door and moved to the side to let us ladies in and so did Dominic and Caleb.

"Thank you, Cody," Autumn said flirtatiously. Autumn sat in the middle row so Dominic and I sat next to her. Then Cody and Caleb pilled in the back. I turned to talk to Cody but he just stared out the window so the three of us talked without him.

Alex and Ash held hands and talked to each other about something private and serious, or at least it sounded like it was because they were being really quiet. Every once in a while, I heard keywords like 'Cody' and 'too quiet.' They sounded really worried. Then I heard the word 'suicide' and my heart stopped. Had he tried to commit suicide or did he want to? He didn't seem like someone who would commit suicide. Well...

"Morgan, are you paying attention?" Autumn asked.

"No," I said quietly, and she playfully smacked me. "Hey! No hitting the birthday girl," I said making it as sassy as possible. Dominic started laughing when he saw my expression which made me laugh. Even Cody and Caleb smiled a little.

When we got there, I saw a sign that said MAIN EVENT. We walked in and I saw a bowling area, an arcade area, a sign that said laser tag, and a sort of obstacle course. I'm sure you know what the first few things are, but what I mean by an obstacle course is a staircase leading up to a small platform that connects to other small platforms through different rope courses. And it's 10 feet up. My stomach flipped from fear. I'm very scared of heights so I wasn't going up there. Alex paid for our wristbands and we each put one on. They were bright, neon green with the words MAIN EVENT in bold, black print.

We followed Alex to the bowling area and picked up shoes and a ball each. I made sure mine was blue. Cody put all of our names in the cue to bowl and he went. He walked up to the line and rolled the ball in a perfect stance and hit 9 pins. He went again and got the last pin making it a spare. Next was Caleb and he got 9 and none. Alex did pretty much the same thing, except he got a strike. I shrunk down in my seat.

"What's wrong?" Dominic asked noticing my slump.

"I'm nowhere as good as they are."

"Oh, come on. Bowling is fun."

"Well, if this were my birthday," I said jokingly, "I would have gone to the mall or the movies."

"Next time," Dominic chuckled. Next was Ash, and she didn't do as well which made me feel better. Dominic's name came up next and he sighed. He knocked down 4 pins then 1 more. Autumn didn't hit any and now it was my turn.

"Oh no."

"You can do it, " Alex encouraged me.

"Thanks for the vote of confidence." I walked up the step to the bowling platform and grabbed my vibrantly colored, blue ball. Calm, I thought, just throw it. Think about the color blue. After a second of thought, I guided my arm back and threw the ball. It went straight then swerved slightly to the right, but surprisingly, I hit 6 pins. My friends behind me clapped and I sat down blushing.
