You Seem So Familiar

Chapter 2

"Adrian! Where are you going?" William, the Guardian of the Sun called out to Adrian as he rushed by him. "I'm just going out for a bit." He replied.

"Adrian, you have to meet Countess Cassandra today! Don't think about running away again!" William shook his head. "Too late!" Adrian called out to him, and ran to the stables.

"James, sadle up Charlemagne for me." Adrian ordered the stable boy. "Yes, my lord." James bowed down low before hurrying to prepare the horse.

"Adrian, listen to me!" William had caught up with Adrian. "You can't run away, you have to marry one day.!" Adrian just smirked at him. "What about you? Plus I'll marry one day. But that one day is not today."

James was finished sadling the horse and Adrian hiked himself up and rode away. "You handle the countess for me William! Thanks!" Adrian yelled to William as he rode away with lightning speed.

William shook is head. "What am I going to do with you Adrian Arden?"

"Artemis! Where are you!" Margaret Linton cried out. Artemis winced as she got up from her bed. "Why are you yelling so early in the morning?" Artemis yawned as she went out and downstairs into the small kitchen from her room.

"Artemis, I heard you rejected another proposal." Margaret crossed her arms across her chest. Margaret was a petite woman in her early forties. She had light chestnut hair lightly streaked silver. He had warm chocolate brown eyes and wore the scent of herbs.

"I did'nt want to marry Johnny Biddle. He's vile." Artemis shrugged. Margaret shook her head. "Are you every planning on marrying?" "Of course Nanny!" Artemis smiled. "Just not now, I feel too young."

"Then when are you exactly planning to go into wedlock? Margaret raised her eyebrows. "Before I turn twenty, I promise." Artemis leaned in to kiss Margaret on the cheek. Then she ran back upstairs to her room to change out of her nightgown.

Margaret shook her head. "Artemis Linton, what am I going to do with you?"

Adrian rode his stallion full speed. He didn't stop until he reached a quiet wood near a small village. He slowly went deeper into the wood until he reached the heart of the wood, where there was a small lake. Huge weeping willows loomed over the lake. The sun light the waters, causing it to sparkle and shimmer.

Adrian slide off his mount and walked over to the edge of the lake. Adrian sighed. This was a nice peaceful place, being able to come here was a treat to him. Walking over to one of the willow trees, he brushed past the vines and climbed onto one of the thick branches. It looked big enough to rest on. Adrian decided to lay down across it, closing his eyes.

Marriage. That was the last thing he wanted. He wanted to marry one day, but with the one he falls in love with. Adrian was raised strictly by the High Priest of Avalonia, Septimus. He forbidded Adrian to go outside unattended, he was to commit to his studies, and sword fight.

"I just want to stop." Adrian thought.

Artemis bounded down the stairs dressed in a dark blue satin walking dress with white trims. She brushed her dark raven hair and loosely braided it to the side, causing it to fall over her shoulder.

Artemis grabbed an apple the basket on the table. "Hey, sit down and eat!" Margaret yelled at her. "I dont have enough time!" She ran outside the door, scooping up her bow and arrows.

She swung the arrow holder onto her shoulder, apple in her left and the bow in her right hand. She took a huge bite of the firm red fruit. Artemis hummed her way to the heart of the forest, where her secret resting place was.

Once she brushed past the bushes and branches, she noticed something different.

First, there was a stallion in the middle of the meadows from the royal palace. Second, there was a man sleeping in Artemis's "bed"

Artemis nearly screamed in shock. She stopped herself and curiously leaned in for a better look of him. Her breath was knocked away. He was handsome, and beautiful at the same time. He had dark black hair that brushed against his shoulders. Broad shoulders, firm jaw, long lashes, straight nose, and thin lips.

Suddenly his eyes flew open, revealing two perfect sapphire blue eyes. Artemis flew back with a scream, landing on her bottom.

He looked as surprised as she was. Getting up, he said to her, "It's not nice to watch people as they are sleeping." He smirked at her. Lord, he was also very tall, and his body was well-built with muscles.

"I-I-did-nt-mean-to-" Artemis stuttered. The stranger laughed. Now to think about it, he was dressed in rather fancy clothes, indicating he is a nobleman. That probably explained the horse.

"I'm Adrian, and who are you, my fair lady?" He sweeped down into a low bow. "Artemis, and I'm no lady, my sir knight?" She gave him a mock curtsy. "If you're no lady, then I'm no knight." his mouth twitched.

"What are you doing in my resting spot?" Artemis tilted her head to one side. "I'm sorry to intrude, I was just looking for a place to run away, and ran into this meadow/lake place." He smiled. He looks at Artemis up and down then his eyes settle to her bow and arrows. "Are you an archer?"

She nodded. "I'm fairly good at it." Adrian smirks at her. "Not better than I am though."

Artemis laughed. "It's on!" They walk over to the edge of the forest. "You know, you seem very familiar. Have we met somewhere before?" Adrian looks at Artemis. She shook her head. "No, I don't believe so." "Really?" Adrian wondered.

So, how do you like it? It's a little boring but please enjoy it. I'm thinking of writing a new story around next month. I'll explain next time what it will be a bout. THANX >.<
