Chapter 1
-Sixteen Years Later-
On a fine Monday morning, Artemis Linton was walking through the path in the Forest of Wanddle.
During that time, her nanny, Margaret was was hanging the bed sheets on the laundry line outside their cottage.
Artemis was popular in the village. She had long raven black hair, spiraling down her back freely, and sapphire blue eyes. Her beauty and intelligence brought men all over the world onto their knees before her. But she rejected them all, enjoying her life at it is. However, despite her blissfulness, Artemis couldn't help but feel like she was missing something in her life.
Artemis was well-practiced in archery and no man tried to cross her path whenever she had a bow and arrow in her hands.

On the other side of the land of Avalonia, in the Moon Castle, live the handsome young Guardian of the Moon, Adrian Arden. He was a lonely boy, despite his closeness to William and Seth, the Guardians of the Sun and the Stars.
He was the black sheep of the three, with his raven black hair and dark blue eyes. He was strong, handsome, intelligent, and everything a women would want. He had everything a man could want, power, wealth, fame, the attention from the women, the looks, the wisdom, and the strength.
Yet he couldn't help but feel like there was something missing from his life. Something big.

Artemis was raised by her nanny since birth. She never knew what had happened to her parents and never wanted to know. She was content with Margaret. She was raised to be sensible and not dream of fairy tales. Artemis always slept late and woke up late. Margaret would always joke, "When the moon is up, you're up. And when the moon is down, you're down." This was true, Artemis was always drawn to the moon, especially when is was a full moon.
As Artemis walked throught the woods, she spotted some wild roses. "How lovely!" She thought to herself. She pluck some off the soil, and stuck it in her hair. Humming a simple tune, she continued down the path.

Adrian was walking down the paths in the garden below at his palace. He was always fond of the white roses. Purity, Innocence, Sympathy, and Spirituality. That was the meaning of white roses.
"Adrian!" He turned to find Seth, the Guardian of the Stars, running towards him, tripping over his bronze robes. "How did this clumsy boy ever become the Guardian of the Stars?" Adrian shook his head.
"Oh, Adrian! You wont believe what has happened!" Seth exclaimed, panting a bit.
"What brings you to the Moon Palace? Did you run here? Wait until you catch your breath, I cannot understand you." Adrian frowned.
Seth shook his head. "No time for that. Countess Cassandra from Solaria sent a marriage proposal to you!" Adrian sighed. Another one of those pointless proposal. "Why didn't she ask for William? He's more charming and friendlier than I am." Adrian turned back to tend his roses. Countess Cassandra was indeed beautiful, but Adrian wasn't interested in her.
Seth grinned. "She's not attracted to William's charms, she attracted to your brooding, dark type." Adrian laughed and joked, "Well if she like dark and brooding, she should aim for Priest Septimus!" Seth laughed along with him. "Shh! If anyone heard you say that-" "Nah, it'll be alright." Adrian walked back into the palace while calling out behind to Seth, "Tell the Holy Court that I refuse her proposal."
Seth ran up to Adrian. "Why not? This is the twenty-second proposal you rejected!" Adrian frowned. "I'm not sure. I feel like there's someone out there for me and I haven't found her yet. And plus, aren't usually men's the ones who propose to women, not the other way around?"
Seth laughed at this. "That's because you never propose or think about it!"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Miss Artemis, will you do the honor of being my wife?" Johnny Biddle was down on one knee in front of Artemis.
Artemis was just about finished with her walk and went down to the village. Johnny Biddle was the blacksmith's son. He was a nice, fair enough looking fellow but Artemis didn't feel anything for him.
"Oh, Mr. Biddle. It breaks my heart that you would do so much for me, however I must decline." Artemis clasped her hands into Johnny's. "Why?" His face was turning furious. Oh dear. Everyone in the village knew about Johnny Biddle's terrible temper tantrum.
Artemis tried to be gentle. "Well, I'm not ready to wed and you are far to good for me." That was a lie. Everyone knew that Artemis was too good for Johnny Biddle and everyone out there.
"That's a lie! You think that you're to good for me!" Johnny Biddle's face turned red with fury. He stood up quickly and grabbed Artemis's hand tightly. "You damn wench, thinking you're better than me! I'm Johnny Biddle! You can't refuse me!"
Artemis lost her patience and twisted Johnny's arm behind his back. He howled in pain. "You know, I tired to be nice and you pay be back with trash." Artemis whispers into his ear. She lets go of him and kicks him on his back, making him to fall forward into the mud face first. "You mess with me, and I kill you. Understand?" Artemis lifts up the light skirt of her dress daintily and walk away as if nothing had happened.
"Why did everyone want me?" Artemis thought sadly to herself as she walked back home. Artemis felt so lonely. She wanted to marry, find someone right for her, have a life, and settle down. But so far she couldn't find anyone.
Never the less, Artemis knew that someone right for her was out there, somewhere.
