Chapter 3
Adrian Arden stood next the strange yet exquisite girl as she marked the grounded, making her target.
Artemis. That was a beautiful name, it meant "Goddess of the moon." It was fitting for her, with long hair that was the color of the night sky, and pale skin like the moon, and sparkling deep blue eyes like stars.
She walked gracefully, and even spoke gracefully. She was like a flower, so delicate, but at the same time, she was like a warrior queen, strong and courageous.
"So, our aim is that tree trunk over there." Artemis points towards the tree near the edge of the forest. Adrian smiles. That was too easy. "I'll go first." Adrian offers.
Artemis hands her bow over to him along with one slender elm wood arrow with a nicely sharpened metal tip.
Adrian drew back his elbow to his ear and focused his view, then he let go. The arrow flew through the air and hit the trunk with a slight thump sound.
Artemis whistled. "Amazing, you got a hit right next to the target!" Adrian couldn't help but feeling rather smug. There was no way a woman can do better than a man.

Artemis felt smug. The man next to her clearly had talent and skills in archery but, she was better. Artemis took the bow from him and drew out an arrow for her case. She drew her elbow back and let go. The arrow flew threw the air and hit directly center of their target.
Artemis turned to Adrian with a triumphed smile. He looked shocked, appalled, embarrassed, and so on. "But- but-thats-imposi-" He stuttered.
Artemis laughed. "I told you so. I'm the most skilled archer in the whole kingdom of Avalonia. I'm probably even better then the Guardians." Adrian stiffened. he suddenly looked uncomfortable. "What's wrong?" Artemis touched his shoulder lightly. "I'm sorry, did I offend you?"
Adrian turned to Artemis, his face had hardened, becoming serious. "My name is Adrian Arden. Does that ring a bell?"
Artemis thought for a moment. It had sounded so familiar to her. Where has she heard that name before? She shook her head.
Adrian took a deep breath. "I am the Guardian of Moon."
Artemis froze. "You're kidding right? This must be a joke!" Adrian shook his head. "I have proof." He reached up and started to unbutton his shirt. "What are you doing?!" Artemis started to blush.
"Showing you evidence." He shrugged of his shirt, and Artemis couldn't help but noticed his muscular chest, arms, and stomach. Oh heaven.
"Here" He points at his left side right below his neck, above his chest, where his collarbone would be. There, was an tattoo, a birthmark, of an black crescent moon. It was the symbol that represent the Guardian of the Moon.
Feeling terrified, Artemis threw herself to the ground. "Oh please forgive me, my lord. Pardon my rudeness. I did not know who you were!"
Adrian bended down and made Artemis look up into his eyes. "Artemis, please don't do this. Please treat me normal. I can't stand this." He begged.
Artemis looked doubtful. "If you wanted to be treated normally, then why did you tell me your identity?"
Adrian looked uncomfortable. "Because..... I feel this connection with you and I can't hide myself from you."
Artemis looked at him softly. "Must be hard to be a great leader of Avalonia." He looked at her suprised, then slowly nodded.
"You want to be friends?" Artemis let her eyes twinkle. Looking mystified, he answered, "Yes."
