Radhika's Pov

I arrived at the cafeteria as decided by Rishabh to have lunch. I searched for him before taking a seat in the corner. I took out my phone to call him and ask about his whereabouts but chickened out and decided to wait instead.

I waited for almost thirty minutes and still there were no sign of him. I had only fifteen more minutes left before I had to get back to work. I was starving and regretting turning down Naina for lunch.

I finally picked up my phone and called him. He didn't pick up, I called again. It went to voicemail. I was about to leave him a message when it got cut. After two minutes, I called him again but this time he picked up.

"Oh Rish-" I stared speaking but couldn't complete my sentence.

"You really don't get it? If I'm not picking up my damn phone that means I'm busy and not available at your freaking service. Calling me twenty times isn't gonna make me less busy. Just use your goddamn brain for once." He yelled at me and tears pool in my eyes automatically. I have never expected this job to be such an emotional rollercoaster. It was emotionally draining.

I looked at the phone and sighed. It was so insulting and above that I almost wasted my lunch break waiting for him. I felt like an idiot to expect him to behave decently with me. I thought he genuinely wanted to know me and my thoughts but this was just another way to insult me.

I was about to get up and leave for work but my view was blocked by a lady. She was talking on her phone and fidgeting with her purse at the same time. I tried to say excuse me but she was too distracted to pay any attention.

"Do you have a pen?" She asked turning towards me.

"Do I look like stationary?!" I snapped at her. I was irritated by Rishabh and by her actions as well. She was the reason I couldn't run out of here after being insulted yet again.

"Uh okay" she raised her eyebrows and then hung up her phone.

I realized how insensitive I'm to take out my frustration on a complete stranger who was merely asking for a pen. It isn't her fault that my boss is a A grade jackass.

"Hey, I am sorry. It wasn't fair. I swear I'm very well behaved. You've caught me on a bad day. I have been waiting for a jerk to show up but he ditched me and insulted me. Anyway, that's not the point, I'm genuinely sorry for snapping at you." I apologized.

"Oh. It's fine, I get it. Do you work her?" She acquired

"Yeah, I just started. I work for a jerk. Rishabh Jaisingh" I was really pissed. "Radhika Vashishta" I introduced myself.

"I am Pakhi Jaisingh" she said with a smile and my eyes widen at Jaisingh.

I immediately looked for similarities wondering if they were siblings too but then my eyes fell on the big rock on her left hand and I jumped to the best conclusion. She must be his wife. I realized what I just said to my boss's wife.

"I'm sorry Mrs. Jaisingh. I didn't mean to say anything to your husband. I was just a little pissed. I am really sorry" I started rambling like an idiot. It has been quite a day. I want this day to be over and never remembered.

"Husband?" She asked being confused "Who do you think my husband is?"

I pointed at her wedding ring "Yeah? Rishabh, right?" I asked

She laughed and replied "What? God, no! I'm not his wife. I'm connected to him but I'm not his wife" I was looking at her like a kid who doesn't understand maths. Nothing made sense to me today. "I'm his sister in law" she said politely trying to make the situation less awkward for me. "I'm Arjun's wife. He works here as well. He's a senior partner. I'm his wife. Oh, also, I should tell you this, I'm also a senior partner in this firm."

"Oh!" Again I felt like the world's biggest idiot. She's my boss and I've yelled at her plus have made a gigantic fool of myself in the first ten minutes I've met her. Hell of a first impression.
"I have met your husband. To be honest, they don't look like brothers." I asked trying to clear the confusion I'm having since day one.

"Right! They're cousins." She explained and I understood why. "You know everyone thinks of Rishabh the same way. But trust me he is not that bad by heart. He has good intentions. He's just.. you know.. a little lost, I guess"

I pressed my lips together. I didn't know if it was my place to say anything.

"I'm just having a hard time trying to understand him. It is difficult when the person is so shut off."

"You'll be fine. Give it time. He's a great lawyer, by the way, you'll learn alot from him."

I smiled at her. "Thank you. I should get going. My break is over. Nice meeting you, Mrs. Jaisingh."

She smiled "You can call me, Pakhi. It was nice meeting you, too"

The rest of the day there were no signs of Rishabh and I was grateful because I didn't want to see his face and upset myself any more than I already was.

I entered my home and put my keys in the bowl. I heard sounds coming from the kitchen and immediately knew who it was. I looked at the dinner table and it was filled with delicious food. A big smile made its way into my face. Nothing like a good meal after a crappy day.

"Woah, you're creepily staring at the food. I don't think that's healthy." Naina spoke from behind with plates in her hand.

I rolled my eyes before spreading my arms to hug her.

"I missed you" I said

"Sure, you do. I'm the essence of this house."

"Okay, too much. Now, can we eat please? I'm starving. I've had a crappy long ass day."

We sat down and served ourselves the delicious food in front of us.

"Come on, tell me. I missed your whining." Naina spoke

Just like that I stared telling Naina everything. I don't think it changed anything but I somehow felt a lil better. I felt relieved that Naina is home.
