Peggy's apartment - Finchley, London
Sitting on her bed, Peggy couldn't help but wonder how her life had got like this. Less than a year ago she and Nick had been fairly run of the mill detectives. They would get called out to investigate homicides and robberies. Now, Peggy and the others had investigated people returning from the dead, a plane reappearing two decades after it disappeared and all sorts of other Gods and monsters. Peggy couldn't help but feel that she may have over exaggerated on the Gods side of things, but the point still stood.
As she walked into the bathroom, Peggy looked up to the shelf on the side. An assortment of pill bottles still remained, tempting Peggy to have a couple after the stressful day that she had endured. As Peggy stared at the bright orange containers, she felt a warmth inside. However, this warmth was different to when she had been addicted to the pills. Before, the warmth came from knowing her pain could be put to one side with a few pills and a drink of water. Now, Peggy came to the realisation that she didn't need the pills anymore. She now had a network of friends all willing to support her. In truth, they had always been there, but Peggy just hadn't realised. Grasping the bottles, Peggy unscrewed their lids one by one, tipping them all upside down as the little white pills flew down her sink and out of her life.
Peggy picked up her flannel, rinsing it under the tap as she went to wash her face, thinking of the leaflets for the Drug Addicts Anonymous meetings Mary had sent her. Maybe they were worth a shot?
Then she saw him.
Spinning so quickly she almost slipped, Peggy stared at the man in her apartment before speaking, "What do you want?"
The Man with the Blue Eyes smiled, "It's good...to see you again, Miss Parker. You look much better than when we last met."
"Get out of my apartment right now, or I'll..."
"You'll what, Miss Parker? Attack me with your toothbrush?" Blue Eyes gestured to the pink toothbrush that she had instinctively picked up. "Please, I just want to talk."
Peggy watched as Blue Eyes strolled back into her living room before quickly following. Placing his jacket down on the sofa, Blue Eyes smiled comfortingly at her. "I'm sorry about what happened with Miss Eyre earlier today. Unfortunately she is on her own path for now, but may still play a part in the grand scheme later."
"What is this grand scheme you keep talking about? Who even are you?" Peggy asked, her voice cracking in frustration.
"Miss Parker, I understand you have many questions, but unfortunately time is of the essence. But to answer your second question, I have noticed Mr Quinn now refers to me as "Frank". I do not know why, but I like it. I am Frank."
Looking over at the cabinet where she kept Nick's gun, Peggy tried to work out how quickly she could reach the pistol if things went south, but Frank seemed to notice this.
"Please, Miss Parker, there shan't be any need for that. I'm here to help you with regards to one Mr McDonald."
This perked Peggy's interest. "What do you know about Eugene?"
Frank raised his left hand up and down slightly as if to deflect the question for now. "First of all, Miss Parker, I wanted to congratulate you for getting past your addiction. That was no easy feat and you should be very proud, especially considering how the last few months have treated you."
She couldn't help but feel slightly proud as she thought of her triumph, but quickly ensured the conversation didn't divert too far of course. "Thank you, Frank. But please, if you know anything about Eugene you need to tell me now."
Frank stood up, walking over to one of Peggy's apartment windows as he stared out across the street. Peggy couldn't imagine that the view was all that great. Last time she had taken the time to look out there all she saw was a train station and some local shops. "I wish that it hadn't come to this, Miss Parker. My role here is to observe and guide rather than interfere, but I have seen too much chaos, so much fire and blood that I feel it is necessary. As you know, the Purple Vice child has extraordinary power, and whilst you and the others did well to stop the child falling into Eugene's hands, he will not stop."
"So Eugene is going after the Purple Vice child? I have to warn the others!"
Shaking his head, Eugene turned back to face Peggy, "Not only that, but he has located another child with similar powers right here in London. Her name is Ella Harkness. She and her family live in Barnet. You should be able to find the exact address rather easily. Miss Parker, I'm sure I don't have to inform you of the importance that Mr McDonald doesn't get access to this child's power."
Rushing over to the cabinet, Peggy opened the drawer and pulled out Nick's pistol. She turned to thank Frank for the information, but before she could speak he had disappeared, as if he had never been there at all. "Thank you," she whispered under her breath.
