Clem's POV

Today was definitely not any better than yesterday. I still haven't made any friends, but I honestly don't care. If they don't like me, so what. Anyways, the girl and her friends that talked about me yesterday were nice to me today for some reason. I don't even know any of their names. Although they seemed nice, I could tell that they just wanted to chew me up and spit me out. I was not gonna let that type of thing happen again.

On my way home, I had a feeling that someone or something was following me. It was those girls. Why were they following me? I started getting closer and closer to my house. I couldn't go inside the house with them behind me because then they would know that I live there. I decided to just stop in front of the house when I got there.

"Grab her!" one of the girls shouted to the others.

All three girls pushed me to the ground and tried to strangle me. I always carry a pocket knife with me just in case I get stuck in a situation like this one. This is only the third time that I've had to use it. I reached into my back pocket, and it wasn't there. It must have fallen out when they pushed me down. I checked the ground beside me and I felt it. Luckily, the cover for the pocket knife fell off. I grabbed the knife and cut one of the girls who was trying strangle me.

"Oh my god! The little bitch cut me!" the girl screeched.

I immediately got up and sprinted in the house. I almost started laughing because those girls were little babies. I made sure I locked the gate and the front door. I ran upstairs to my bedroom and slid down the door, panting because I was out of breath.

"That actually just happened," I said.

"What just happened?" the boy who came yesterday said.

"Why are you here!?" I yelled. "Who are you?"

"I'm Tate," he answered.

"Are you gonna kill me?"

"Don't ask stupid questions."

"Why are you here?"

"I don't know. I'm just here."

"Um. Okay then. Wanna listen to music?"

"Sure."

I went over to my record player and record collection. I picked up Dirt, since I didn't get to finish that yesterday. I played Side A yesterday, so I put on Side B today. Junkhead was the first song to come on.

"You got any Kurt Cobain records," Tate asked me.

I smiled and replied, "Yeah. You listen to him?"

"Yeah I listen to him. He's the greatest rock and roll legend of all time."

"I know right. I seriously thought I was the only one who still listened to him."

"Well, can you play one of his records now?"

"Yeah."

I went over to the record player, lifted up the needle, and put the Alice in Chains record away. I searched my collection of records, until I found Nirvana's MTV Unplugged record.  I put Side A on and About a Girl began to play.

"Why did you choose that record?" Tate asked me.

"Because Kurt talks a little bit in that one. I like hearing him talk," I said.

"Me too," Tate agreed. "Tell me about yourself."

"My name's Clemence, by the way, but you could just call me Clem."

"Why'd you move here anyways?"

"Dad got a new job and Mom wanted to go somewhere new."

"Do you like your parents?"

"Uh...I guess. I'm super close with my mom and my dad isn't around anymore, but I didn't really like him anyways. Whenever he was around, he wouldn't talk to me and my mom. He would just sit in his room"

"I hated my parents. My dad was murdered and my mom...she was just a shithead."

There was complete silence and stillness for a couple seconds.

"Where were you from?" Tate asked.

"Aberdeen," I replied.

"Washington?

"Yeah. I really liked it there. It was Kurt Cobain's hometown, so that's mostly why I liked it there. I would always visit his memorial park."

"Cool."

"It rained a lot too, but I like the rain. I like how the clouds made it dark outside."

"I like the rain too."

All of a sudden my mom comes in my room.

"Who is this?" my mom questions and stares at Tate.

"This i-," I tried to say, but she cut me off.

"Clemence you know that you have to ask me before you bring a boy into the house," my mom strictly said.

"But he just ca-," I said.

"Enough of your stories. You," she said and pointed to Tate, "get out of my house and never come back."

"Mom you're overreacting," I told her.

"I don't care!" she screamed.

Tate got up and stormed out the door. I could hear him stomping down the stairs, but I never heard the front door slam shut or any door slam shut. He never left.
