Clem's POV
I opened my eyes, and saw one lonely tree with white flowers, covering the tree. Black tulips surrounded the tree as well. I laid the blanket down in the green grass. I sat down and Tate sat right next to me.
"Those tulips are beautiful," I said in awe because I never saw a black tulip before. " Are they really black?"
"They're dark purple, but they look black," Tate responded. "Isn't it cool?"
"Yeah. I've never seen anything like that before, and I don't really like flowers, but I really like those tulips."
"I knew you would."
Tate's POV
Violet would've loved those flowers, but she hates me now. She never wants to see me again for what I did. I wish she would just listen because nobody ever does. I changed and I'm not just saying that. Violet changed me. Clem just reminds me of her. Clem likes the same music as Violet and she even kind of looks like Violet. Maybe Clem can talk to Violet for me. No, I can't do that. I can't just use Clem to get Violet back for me.
Clem POV
Tate began to just stare at the dark purple. He looked like he was thinking, but he also looked kind of sad. Almost like he was about to cry.
"Tate, are you okay?" I asked sympathetically.
"No," he said as a tear trickled down his pale skin. "I miss her so much."
"Who?"
"You wouldn't know her."
"Just tell me her name."
"Violet."
"I know a girl named Violet. I met her yesterday in the house."
Tate's POV
She knew Violet. I could try and get Clem to talk to her and tell Violet that I'm sorry, but I don't think Violet would listen. We're like puzzle pieces. We fit perfectly together and we need each other to be complete. I decided to just lie and tell Clem that the girl she met wasn't the Violet that I was talking about. I need to get Violet back on my own.
"That's her," I said as I cried.
"Oh. Are you still to-," Clem said.
"No. We broke up."
"I'm sorry. You must have really loved her."
"Yeah. I try to talk to her, but she ignores me. She pretends that I'm not even there"
"It's okay."
Clem leaned over to me and hugged me. She cared and she did listen. I didn't want to let go of her. That was the first time that I haven't felt alone since Violet said goodbye to me. As we held each other in our arms I sobbed because I miss Violet so much and I know that she won't talk to me again.
Clem's POV
"We should start going now," I said.
"No, not yet. Can we stay?" Tate asked while sniffling and trying to stop crying.
"I guess. Can you tell me a story?" I asked.
"Okay. I'll tell you a story about the house you live in," Tate said as he gathered himself.
"Okay."
"It might freak you out a little bit."
"No it won't."
"Okay then. In 1922, the house you're living in was built by Dr. Charles Montgomery. Charles was a "doctor to the stars" and he was also a drug addict. Charles, his wife Nora, and their son Thaddeus all lived together. They had a secret business where Charles would perform abortions for girls. One girl couldn't keep her mouth shut and told her boyfriend. The boyfriend wasn't very happy, so he kidnapped Thaddeus. The police investigated and found evidence. The evidence was jars of Thaddeus's body parts. Charles brought the baby back to life by using one of the heart's from the girls and sewing Thaddeus back together. But the baby wasn't a baby anymore. It was a monster that craved blood. Nora then shoots Charles and kills herself in the house."
"Oh my God I'm so scared," I laughed. "That's impossible. You can't bring something back to life."
"Then how do you explain the monster that you saw living in your basement?"
"I don't know. It was probably some asshole teenager."
"You don't believe me?"
"I believe all the realistic parts of the story, but not the part about how Charles brings Thaddeus back to life."
"Violet didn't believe me either."
Tate started to get upset again.
"Just don't think about her 'cause she makes you sad."
"I can't stop thinking about her. You remind me of her!"
"Oh, then I should go."
"No. Please stay."
"I remind you of Violet, so I shouldn't be here."
All of a sudden, he kissed me. I didn't know what to do because I thought he loved Violet, but I can't read his mind. I felt my phone buzz in my back pocket. It was my mom. I answered my phone, and my mom was definitely a little pissed off.
"Where are you?" my mom yelled into the phone.
"I'm with a friend," I answered calmly.
"Why didn't you tell me you were going out and how long have you been out?"
"Sorry, I was gonna call you, but you called me first. I've been out since 5. Are you gonna make me come home now?"
"No, but you have to be home by 11 and it's 9:11 now."
"It really took you 6 hours to go to the grocery store?"
"I went to go look at furniture too because I want to get a new couch."
"Okay. See you later."
I hung up and shoved my phone in one of my back pockets.
"Sorry about that. My mom just called," I said. "We have 2 hours to do whatever we want. I have to be back by 11."
An hour and a half later...
"It's 10:51 and my mom hates it when I'm late," I said.
"Aw we have to leave now?" Tate said.
"Yeah. We should do this again. I had fun, and I don't have fun very often."
"Yeah we should."
I folded up the blanket and we walked together.
"Wait. I want to put one of those tulips in my room."
A ran over to the tree and the tulips, and took one of the dark purple tulips.
"Now we can go," I confirmed.
He held my hand the entire way back. I thought he was in love with Violet, but it's nice that someone kind of likes me. I don't make friends very easily and people usually don't like me because they think I'm weird or freaky. He accepted me for who I was.
(I hope you liked it and thank you so much for reading! I know, so far, this story is super boring, but I promise that it will start picking up in the next few chapters. Also, I will try and update this as much as possible. Vote and comment please!
