JORDAN'S POV

After a couple of days, waiting for Jason to returns my calls and texts, he finally picked up. The last I had heard from him was the night my dad had talked to him.

Honestly, my dad had a point. Falling in love with a criminal isn't exactly the best choice. And having him in our home when the police are searching for him isn't the best either. So, Jason and I decided to make a plan.

I can only stay with him for a limited amount of time. Yeah, it seems dumb, but something has to be done.

I laid on my bed, staring at the ceiling fan go around in circles. When I got really bored, I tried to follow a single blade as it whirled around, but eventually I got dizzy and closed my eyes.

My phone vibrated within the blankets of my bed and sounding off its ringtone. I franticly searched for it and answered. I've been dying to hear his voice.

"I need you to come with me tonight." His raspy voice said from the other end.

"What, where, and when?"

"I've been invited to a party at Tristan's parents' mansion at seven pm. I need you to come with me just in case it's a trap of some kind."

My jaw dropped. "I don't think I should be going to Tristan's... Maybe you should take Max?"

"What straight guy brings another guy as his plus one?"

He has a point.

"Please? I swear if that kid tries to do anything to you I will take care of it." He chuckled.

I sighed. "Fine."

He hung up the phone before I had the chance to back down.

Tristan's parents always throw the fanciest parties in the city. They're rich and high class, meaning I'll have to look like a million dollars just to get in. Hm.

I don't understand how of all people, Jason got invited. I also don't understand why Jason would even go to this shindig. He hates people like them.

Whatever.

----

After I was finished getting ready, I glanced at myself in my mirror. My hair was perfectly curled and my makeup was on point. The dress I chose was actually the dress I wore to prom. It's the only thing that's extremely fancy in my closet.

It fit my body perfectly. The black fabric and the diamonds were sleek against my skin.

The doorbell rang and I clumsily walked down the stairs in my black heels to see Jason. He wore an all black three piece tux with a bow tie. I think I'm gonna faint.

He smirked as he linked arms with me to walk out to his car. "You look beautiful."

"I know. You're not to bad yourself." I winked, only getting a chuckle out of him.

By the time we got to the mansion, people were crowded everywhere. We both walked inside. I can tell he's getting nervous by the way he's looking at people.

Couples danced out in the middle of the open space, while others sat and ate the delicious food I couldn't stop smelling. A large podium sat in the front of the room, along with a projector.

Jason and I stood with arms linked as we searched for a place to sit. I suddenly got the urge to pee.

"Jason, I need to go to the bathroom." I whispered in his ear.

"Okay, go. I'll hold your stuff and choose a table." He gestured at my clutch in my hand.

I nodded and unlinked arms with him and walked down a large hallway. I remember Tristan and I walking down these hallways together.

As my heels clicked against the flooring, I searched for a bathroom. Eventually I was so deep into the mansion that I was the only one in the hallways. I came to a halt when my heels weren't the only ones clicking on the wooden floors.

I casually glanced behind me to see an unfamiliar man walking towards me. Maybe he's looking for a bathroom too. Or following me.

I quickened my pace and turned into a small room which had an open door. I slammed it shut and locked it.

It looked as if it were some type of study room. When I would come over to see Tristan, his parents would never let me in rooms other than the basic bathroom, bedroom, or kitchen.

As I looked around, I noticed another door that lead to the gardens. If that man was following me, this is the only way I could get away.

I dashed through the door and into the darkness of the night.
